This vintage Parker desk sold through iNVISeDGE in 2008 within days of being listed online for $595. These days (in 2019) I’d price the same piece in iNVISeDGE at more (maybe about $940). I tend not to like Parker Furniture of this era but the hall table / desk is an exception- they’re hard to find, very practical in today’s homes because the proportions are perfect, plus they’re a stunning piece of design.

Background Info and Provenance

(Description written in 2008)

A stylish PARKER FURNITURE hall table/desk. In my opinion this is one of the best pieces Parker ever did. It was actually designed to be used in the bedroom with a stool underneath for ladies to put on their make-up. A mirror rested on the back- this was back in the early 1960’s, about 1963, when there must have been so much more time to do everything- most women I know just rush the job quickly in the bathroom! I can’t imagine most women (or some men in this day and age) sitting down to apply their make-up. Because these tables were made to be used in this way there are not many around and today are snapped up quickly to be used as hall tables or desks in today’s homes particularly if the piece needs to form part of the living space. The design has been done extremely well with the eye for detail that won Parker Furniture wide acclaim in the early 1960’s- this piece was released at the height of their game. This teak writing table / desk has the Parker FOIL TAG so it holds obvious investment appeal- I’ve seen them sell for much more. This piece is very likely to increase in value along with inflation (at the least) in the future. In the six years I’ve been doing this, it is only the second one I’ve stocked- they don’t come up often.

(And again this comment has proven to be correct- today in 2019 these Parker hall tables consistently (and easily) sell for more than what I sold this one for back in 2008.)
