Background Info and Provenance

(This description was written in 2022.)

A large Italian Pixie / Elf table lamp. I date this one back to the art deco era, most likely the 1930’s or 1940’s. There’s not much information about these online. All I can find is that they’re collectable, very hard to get and NEVER CHEAP. All dealers say they’re Italian, so I will go with that. Australia doesn’t have many items around like this- I’d say there would be less than a handful of lamps like this here down-under. It’s out of a deceased estate. The previous owner was an international flight attendant and flew the world her entire life. This one was collected during one of her very many overseas adventures.

I love the exuberance of the piece. It emits a carnival-like essence. When I look at it, I feel like I’m 7 years old again and the circus has come to town with all it’s glamour, frivolity, fun and “other-world fascination”. The “other world fascination” with this one is because it depicts a time gone by. Elves and pixies are from a different world- it might even depict a troubadour from medieval times. The piece most likely hails from the art deco / art nouveau era but it could be earlier. My age estimate is based on the sophistication and type of construction techniques / materials more than anything.

This piece is incredibly well made. The attention to detail is awe-inspiring (the Italians seem to do everything better). The arms, hands and fingers are definitely made out of some type of rubber. This rubber-material type material is incredibly durable. A piece like this will last forever if it’s handled with any type of sense. Others like this that I’ve seen listed overseas say they’re made out of timber. The arms and hands of this one are definitely NOT timber- they’re a rubberised material. I can’t remember what the rest of him was like now. (I photographed him a couple of months ago now.) I didn’t get to touch and caress him long enough to get a “feel” for the rest of it. If you need to know what the rest of him is made out of, let me know and I’ll get the Executor of the Will to caress him on my behalf. (Insert sly-smile emoji here.)

An obvious investment. This one is priced at WAY less than it should be. (We need a result within a 6-month time frame- from the time of writing). See the screenshots for verification of “real” value. The one on ebay is in US dollars (ie. about $4800 AUD). The one on the Fleetwood Mac website is also around AUD $4800. Both of those appear to be floor lamps so the figure in those will be a little bigger than this but there’s no disputing it- this is priced to sell making it a no-brainer investment piece. Sell it in the future (the right way) and I can’t see how you could possibly lose.

This Italian lamp made predominantly BY HAND in an era gone by (most likely art deco / nouveau) will always be sought-after. It’s been incredibly well-made so it’s not subject to trends. After mass-produced modern pieces have ended up as landfill, this vintage décor piece (most likely made in ITALY) will be passed onto yet another generation. There’s no better way to invest in your home and help protect our planet for future generations. INVESTING in (and valuing) hand-crafted items is a small but important way we can all help change our children’s future. Don’t subscribe to this throw-away mentality any more! It is killing your opportunity to be financially free PLUS it’s killing our planet!

This piece is in excellent vintage condition overall with no condition issues at all that warrant a mention. There are NO cracks, NO chips, NO breakage, NO careless damage at all. The piece is vintage so it may have some very minor signs of age and use. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As shown in our photos, the piece is all rigged up as a lamp and ready to go. I didn't get a chance to test if it is working while I was there. It's a vintage lamp should be tested by an electrician prior to use anyway. If you need to know if it's working ask us and I'll get the Executor of the Will to do this for you. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Measurements. It's a substantial piece- a very big table lamp. With shade: Total height-76 cm ; Across- 38cm. Without shade or globe: Height- 62cm ; Across- 30cm. Read my 1200+ feedback comments (ALL for vintage furniture and design SALES). This is your guarantee that I strive to describe all my items as accurately as I can and I will not stock items unless they are in excellent condition.
PICK-UP . . . near BRISBANE city is accepted. Pick-up in person must be worked out prior to purchase- thank you. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ POSTAGE is offered internationally. All our Decorative Arts pieces are delivered through AUSTRALIA POST. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ POSTAGE ESTIMATES. . . . ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ To BRISBANE- most of our pieces cost $15 - $18 to send. . . To SYDNEY or MELBOURNE- Small Vase- around $20 - $23, Medium Vase- around $20 - $25, Large Vase- around $24 - $30. Medium Lamp- $30 - $37. Large Lamp- $35 - $60. Let us know if you need an EXACT COST for postage prior to purchase. The above postage estimates include $2.95 for a signature on delivery. . . INSURANCE against being lost or broken in transit up to the value of $200 is included in the estimates above. If your vase is cheaper or more expensive than $200 this will effect your postage fee slightly. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A BOXING FEE of $3.00 or more is included in the fee above (usually $3 to $5) to cover the cost of searching for and storing used packing materials. With the millions of cardboard boxes that end up as landfill every year we don’t believe in supporting the manufacture of boxes for post. Instead of buying new boxes and packing materials and passing this cost onto our customers we spend considerable time sourcing used boxes and then fashioning boxes to fit each item. We do the same for bubble-wrap and foam pieces. This requires a large investment of time, energy, ingenuity, organization and storage space- it is much easier and cheaper to buy new packing materials but I can’t justify taking the easy way out when so much packing material ends up polluting our earth. Our nominal charge does little to pay for the time (and storage) needed do this and to pack your item (there is also the time needed to get your package to the post office). This is something we’re happy to do for our customers and the environment. We appreciate your support in this area.
We accept DIRECT BANK DEPOSIT. We send photographic ID of the iNVISeDGE store owner (Michael Grealy) to all customers at the point of sale, along with media articles about iNVISeDGE with photos of Michael Grealy in them (most of these articles are about 10 years old). Your payment will be paid into an Australian ANZ bank account under the name Michael Grealy (or iNVISeDGE). Please read our ebay feedback spanning more than 18 years for irrefutable proof of our online trading history and reputation. Ebay feedback can ONLY be left by LEGITIMATE PAYING customers! Additionally please be aware that in Australia ALL consumers are protected BY LAW if the goods or services they buy are not as described. (But this should be of no concern- in our first 20 years of trading we have over 1150 positive ebay feedback comments and ZERO negative feedback comments.) ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On occasions a DIRECT BANK DEPOSIT can be made at the time of collection. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On occasions CASH payment when you collect your item may also be available. Confirm prior to purchase if you need this. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Other payment methods are available but problematic and may incur additional fees. Tell us prior to purchase if you are unable to feel 100% confident with our trading history and payment methods so we can negotiate something else with you.
