A pair of AUTHENTIC, iconic bar stools by Antonio Citterio and Toan Niguyen for Kartell. Great shape, great durability and great investment appeal. These retail for AU$1310 EACH new from SPACE Furniture. And I’ve seen second-hand ones sell in Australia for AU $620 each. Our price is a mere fraction of the true value. I can’t see this particular pair losing any value in the future. There’s not many of these around either which cements the investment appeal. The spoon bar stool by Kartell is set to become a design classic- the design is sinewy, stylish and timeless. These Kartell pieces will add a sophisticated slant to your space and the beautiful comfort means you’ll be reluctant to ever let them go. “An original stool with a shape as elastic in appearance as it is in function. The innovation of Spoon bar stool by Kartell consists mainly in attaching the seat to a central support with a specially reinforced curve to guarantee flexibility and comfort. Furthermore, thanks to a sophisticated design solution, the gas lift pump adjusts the height to between 56cm and 76 cm and is perfectly inserted into the stem. In the same ingenious fashion, the handle which regulates the mechanism is perfectly concealed inside the seat” which contributes to its sleek, stylish appearance.

Kartell was founded by Giulio Castelli and Anna Castelli Ferrieri in 1949. They began manufacturing automobile accessories and expanded into home furnishings in 1963. The home furnishings particularly from the late 1960’s / early 1970’s (which was when this design was done) became very popular and have become style icons of the era. Kartell is still in business to this day releasing heralded designs every year. Today in 2023, Kartell is stocked by SPACE Furniture in Australia, a leader in providing high-end designer items to the discerning buyer.

This pair of Kartell stools are about 8 years old so have minor tell-tale signs of use. NO abuse though. They have both sustained a few minor scratches and scuffs over the years but for chairs of this age they present extremely well with no condition flaws that warrant a specific mention. Both of these Kartell bar stools are obviously structurally solid and sturdy with NO cracks or splits in the polypropylene (toughened plastic).
