Description
We have a TWO-SEATER SOFA (identical to this one) available from a regular vendor of ours in Melbourne (same colour, same condition, priced at $1,350). Contact me if you have interest and I’ll send you photos.
This full suite SOLD in 2024 for $3,580 (all 3 pieces).
Price is PER single-seater lounge chair- to be sold as a pair only. There is also a matching 2-seater sofa. We won’t break up this vintage Module suite for several months. Let me know if you have interest in just the pair of chairs because if there’s interest in just the sofa as well, we will then break up the suite.
Love items like this in this lighter-colour leather. This leather-tone suits this design perfectly and creates a more pared-back look.
LOCATION– being SOLD UNDER CONSIGNMENT by a private seller in Mt Waverley, MELBOURNE.

This Australian-made lounge suite with Module labels is the first of its type I’ve ever had in iNVISeDGE after 22 years of trading. Rare is an understatement. Fabulous is an understatement. The look is stunning but not over-the-top … however, it’s the COMFORT that you’re buying here. This suite holds you in perfect seating position- look at the angles here! Plus there’s padding and the suspension element to add to the comfort … and generous proportions too- this allows you to find many comfortable seating and lounging positions. To top it off, the curved armrests allow you to nestle back in the corners for additional comfort and a more casual, relaxed feel whilst you binge on Netflix or watch a movie.
This is one of the best designs to ever come out of Australia but pretty elusive. I doubt you’ll come across one of these again for some time … if ever! This suite was sold in Melbourne, Australia, in the late-1970’s or early-1980’s by Module Furniture. Most Module Furniture is in dark colours which would make a design like this a little too chunky for my liking (because this is a good-sized lounge chair.) This particular set is able to combine the extra comfort from the generous proportions with the sleek minimalist flavour because of the light colour. The camel-coloured leather is perfect for this suite- it’s warm, earthy and pares back the look to ensure the minimalist style of the design is not compromised.
The comfort of this ensemble is obviously special but the durability also won me over. This design is now about 45 years old- look at it after all these years of use! No guessing the quality of the leather on this one! Yes- there are cheap shitty leathers on furniture all over the place these days- but this is (vintage) thick, Australian FULL-GRAIN LEATHER- the best you can get and rarely used on furniture these days except in high-end pieces worth a LOT more than this! And your proof of the quality on offer here is in the condition of this suite after all these years of use.
The other thing this vintage Module lounge suite has going for it is very SOLID investment appeal. They couldn’t make a chair of this quality for anywhere near this price these days but this is a 1970’s piece (with all the labels, so has strong design provenance too). At this price there’s no reason why it shouldn’t continue to increase in value in the future- if you look after it with some sense. This design is timeless, stylish and appeals to a wide cross-section of the market. To some extent, the style is based on Sigurd Resell’s, famous Falcon chair (by famous Norwegian company, Vatne Mobler). Falcon chairs are currently fetching up to AU $2950 EACH in some vintage Melbourne shops. All things considered, this chair is as good in my eyes but listed here at about ONE-THIRD the price of a Falcon. (It’s a LOT harder to find than the Falcon chair too!)
Like the Falcon chair, this chair also has a canvas sling that’s supported on a timber frame. The frame on this vintage Module lounge suite, is stronger than a Falcon chair (the structural integrity is MUCH stronger on this one). And because of the generous proportions, this chair can be used as a sitting chair AND and lounge chair- Falcon chairs can be used as a sitting chair only.
Investing in quality vintage furniture is a great way to go. If an Australian company made these again today, you’d be set back about $3,500 (PER chair) but seeing first-hand how something has held up after years of use verifies how smart your investment is (before you shell out even a cent). If used with some sense, I have no doubt that this vintage Module suite will be passed onto future generations- a symbol that when something has been done well, it will live on. There’s no better way I can think of to invest in your home, reduce landfill and your carbon footprint.
In the same league as Artek, Anibou, Westnofa, Tessa, Parker, FLER and Danish Deluxe pieces.
