Background Info and Provenance

This lovely Art Deco / Nouveau lamp is a bit of a unicorn – made to sit over a reading chair it is fully articulated at the lamp neck and has a lovely amber bakelite collar halfway down the stand. All the bakelite fittings are intact. Standing on a solid black bakelite base, and with a red cone shade, it is perfectly suited to a gentleman’s study or a reading nook. Definitely Art Deco / Arts and Crafts era – it would nestle fabulously in any designer interior but particularly a similarly aged home. Art Deco / Nouveau items have been perennially sought-after- the designer nature of these items means they are not subject to trends but instead are timeless.

The lamp is in excellent original condition and the wiring has been checked for safety. It was in use as a reading lamp in its last home. There is a small bite out of the bakelite on the base but this is never noticed unless pointed out, and there is wear on the velvet banding on the shade commensurate with a piece that is around 100 years old. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Measurements.
