Description
LOCATION- Brisbane Metro Area
The price of $195 is for the stone table top only. (You could get a pedestal base off another vintage table and install this stone on top.) The dining chairs are not available- we have a set of 6 in this design in the pipeline. These chairs are REALLY hard to get- we rarely see them anymore. (The ones photographed are my own; I will never part with them… LOVE them! After 23 years in this business they are the best dining chairs I’ve ever come across … my opinion only … of course. I will never own any others.)

A VINTAGE stone-top table top that’s an incredibly rare find in Australia. I bought this for my own use several years ago as it was the perfect size to use in the kitchen of my small studio apartment at the time. I’ve since moved house and am reluctantly letting it go. I can’t find a spot for it anymore but know that these dimensions for a table are not easy to find- it took me months to find this (and I had to get it sent up from Sydney). I instantly fell in love with it. The onyx pieces, which extend all the way through the concrete top, are stunning- the workmanship required to achieve this is extraordinary. I shone a light under the table when I had it, so the onyx pieces would light up. I also love the gold bordering- again the workmanship required to achieve this is inspiring. The borders are actually metal-strips (plated with gold or a gold colour) impregnated into the concrete. I have no idea how this was actually achieved. The piece is a work of art and if it wasn’t so heavy I would install it on a wall- it probably could be done I’d say.
The other thing this table has going for it, is that it can also be used in FULL-WEATHER. I’m pretty sure it’s concrete under the white (see all the photos). This table top is as heavy as hell- one STRONG person can move this piece a short distance but ordinarily two people are needed to move it. I don’t know how the white finish is achieved but it’s incredibly resilient, hardy (good in ALL weather) and flawlessly done. If moved with any sense this table top will last forever.
I’d say it’s an Italian designer piece- I’ve never seen anything like it in Australia ever (after being in this business for over 22 years). You won’t find anything like it again and in fact finding a table in these dimensions is really difficult as well.
Investing in vintage pieces like this is a great way to go- there are very few better ways to invest in your home, reduce landfill and support local small business.
