Provenance / Background Information
A 3-SEATER Ploum Settee- designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Ligne Roset (France) WITH original LABELS
The Ploum Settee by Ligne Roset is the fruit of much research into comfort. The results? A special combination of two materials: a stretchable covering and beneath it ultra-soft foam. The Ploum was a winner of the Red Dot Award, an international design competition for product design and design concepts.
There’s no point re-inventing the wheel here so I have pasted the paragraph that appears about this design on the Red Dot Award website below. https://www.red-dot.org/project/ploum-sofa-10428 … BUT there’s a couple of things I’d like to add in a more “ocker-Aussie” tone. This sofa is the most comfortable thing I’ve ever relaxed in- every conceivable position of comfort is achievable with this design from sitting, to stretching out, “slothing around” and especially nestling comfortably for a Netflix binge. The styling is also stunning- there’s sophistication to the look but also a casual and INVITING comfort that beckons you to relax in it. And whenever you do, you will never be disappointed.
My vendor’s loss is your gain here. These coveted pieces don’t come up often- people just don’t let them go. This is the first time iNVISeDGE has had one of these sofas in over 22 years of trading. My vendor is selling everything off to go travelling overseas for a few years. No point having large items sitting around in storage for years- miss this rare opportunity and it will be a bitter regret.
(From the Red Dot Award website) … … “Like hardly any other piece of furniture, the Ploum sofa represents the spirit and lifestyle of an era. While sofas from the 1960s were intended mainly for upright seating positions, designers in the 1970s started to create more opulent seating landscapes that were aimed at representing the spirit of this new era. In order to understand the needs of the target groups, the designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec conducted an in-depth study on user comfort to accompany the design process of the Ploum sofa. “We tried to create a very comfortable settee of contemporary design,” said the designers, describing their motivation for creating this sofa. The Ploum sofa features a broad shape and soft forms, which are inviting and adapt perfectly to the user’s body contours. The combination of materials too offers a highly sensuous experience: covered by stretch fabric, the sofa’s soft foam material offers high comfort and the possibility to recline in very different ways so as “the entire body may be seated on a cuddly and soft space”. According to the designers, the Ploum sofa was “conceived as a ripe and delicious fruit.” The aim of the Bouroullec brothers was to create a sofa for the diversity of life and the “special moments of the day” – the result is a highly organic unity of material and form.”
Handcrafted for Ligne Roset in France, the originals rarely come up- this is not only an opportunity to own a coveted ORIGINAL but also a rare INVESTMENT opportunity. If you look after sofa, it shouldn’t lose a cent of value in the future. New ones in this design are priced at over AUD $11,000, making ours here a no-brainer investment.
New furniture loses about half of its value the second you buy it and a lot of new furniture exploits the earth and people used to produce it. Replica furniture rips off the intellectual property of design greats with the aim of selling it much cheaper (and obviously making it for much cheaper too!). Corners are cut and items invariably end up as landfill in as little as a decade on some occasions. With this sofa by Ligne Roset, there’d be very few better ways to invest in your home, reduce landfill and your carbon footprint.
