Background Info and Provenance
A pair of Empire / Roccoco style armchairs made about 20 years ago. These have an incredible eye for detail and the construction quality is brilliant- they’re extremely well made chairs. The Empire Style made a revival in the 1970’s and more recently with the work of high-profile designers like Christopher Guy who’s opulent hand-crafted chairs can sell for tens of thousands of dollars each. The Empire Style first came into being from about 1800 – 1820 but made a come-back various times since. It has now come back so many times that Empire Revival furniture is a permanent fixture in interior design. (It’s not influenced by trends anymore.) This opulent, extravagant style is often chosen in high-end luxury interiors. Many are going for a “French Riviera” look. The handiwork involved is inspiring and these items all carry a lot of value simply because of the amount of work required to create them.
This pair of chairs have an incredible eye for detail- the shape and carving in the timber is inspiring. These would be perfect as bedroom chairs (they’re just the right size for a bedroom) or occasional chairs. The style here is luxurious but still refined. This pair present extremely well- close to new- but they’re a fraction of the price of what they initially retailed for. This pair ticks all the boxes especially the investment appeal box. Hand-crafted pieces never lose their value like mass-produced machine-made furnishings. At this price you’re buying much less than cost price! This pair is second-hand (hence this ridiculously low price) but present in showroom condition with no condition flaws that warrant a mention. (See the Condition & Dimensions Section for further information.)
Investing in items built to last (and built by PEOPLE- not machines) is our only way forward and the only way to bring inspiration and the energy of creation (life energy) into your home. There’s no better way to invest in your home and also reduce your carbon footprint.
