Provenance and Background Info
A pair of feature chairs in the Kalos design by world-renowned B & B Italia – Maxalto. The Kalos Lounge Chair for B&B Italia is an exclusive design by Antonio Citterio, a modern take on the classic easy chair. Designed in 1997, Kalos lounges have been a mainstay at B & B Italia for over 25 years.
The B & B originals retail for $6,145 each from SPACE furniture. ($12,290 the pair- this is without the footstools.) No need to pay that here and no need to wait the usual lead time either (8-weeks or more).
The chairs on offer here boast a solid hardwood frame that have been blocked and dowelled at each corner for strength and durability so you’re not only buying a stunning design but quality as well. The comfort is also sensational. The fabric covering is a high-quality textile.
The thing I like most about these chairs is that they tick every box. The investment box in particular gets a resounding tick. Chairs in this shape couldn’t even be made in China for this price.
I have to add that this design is one of the most visually pleasing you’ll see. It’s restrained but certainly noticed. The curves, that look like a child’s slippery-slide, are soothing and calming. These chairs have stature like a gentleman’s chair but with peaceful flowing lines. It’s an intriguing contrast. The comfort is also great. A great sitting chair- perfect for watching TV, reading or socializing. The angles are spot-on and you feel well supported. They are certainly not the type of chair you keep on sinking in and pray to God you’ll be able to fight your way out when it comes time stand up!
Why buy mass-produced furniture with highly questionable construction qualities? Kalos chairs by Italian heavyweight B & B Italia have stood the test of time with regards to both workmanship and design. There are very few better ways to invest in your home and to reduce landfill.
