(This table sold through iNVISeDGE within 2 days of being listed online for $1700 back in 2007. Today in 2018 I’d price the exact same table in iNVISeDGE at around $1700-$1900.)
This is one of the best dining tables to ever come out of Australia. Made by PARKER, this dining table can squeeze in 12 when extended (10 comfortably) and despite its huge size, it boasts an incredibly sleek and refined style inspired by Scandinavian design. Produced in Australia in the early 1960’s, this piece shows us why PARKER became a name recognised for quality and expert design. Clever in its inception, this table has THREE size options- an individual extension piece can be added to seat 8 or TWO pieces to extend the table for 10 people (or 12 if you’re happy to get close to your guests!). These pieces are also housed safely under the table when not in use.
This table is the hardest mid-century table to get, particularly in great condition. With 10 chairs, the table looks incredible and is a sight not often seen. The suite was in the formal dining area of the home it came out of so it was used occasionally. A tablecloth and placemats were used when the full family got-together so this one is in brilliant ORIGINAL condition! No- it HASN’T been sanded back and restored (a good thing for a table like this)- just very well looked-after and ready for another 50+ years if used with the respect it deserves.
Teak pieces from the early 1960s have enjoyed enduring popularity- this table is an investment piece and at the “pinnacle”- if you like this Danish style, you’d be very hard pressed to get better than this. These are so popular that this design was re-released by Parker for David Jones about 6 years ago … but with a $3500 tag! Its size versatility has widespread appeal so there will always be very strong demand it. With regards to quality, this table has already proven itself for over 50 years- why risk good money on something that might be poorly built and won’t stand the test of time!
