Description
Provenance and Background Info
(Written 2011. I sold this piece for $395 back in 2011. These days I’m almost certain it was done by Severin Hansen Jnr. This means I’d stock the exact same table for about $660 these days. VERY rare and as it says below, absolutely stunning!
This part was written in 2018. A Danish-made oak sewing table with two labels to verify its provenance. Even though the tags give this piece solid investment appeal the table doesn’t really need the labels. A courtesy glance over the piece is all that’s needed to see it’s a beautifully-made piece. I’ve seen nothing like it in the 10 years I’ve been running iNVISeDGE. This piece exudes the stylish refined appearance that has made Danish furniture famous. I love how the legs continue down from the top and are not set under the table like most tables. The tapering is also sensational. The legs are flat on the two surfaces facing outwards (these two faces do not taper). The two inside surfaces however taper gradually all the way down to a fine tip. The elegance and sleek quality of the piece jumps out at you- this contradiction gives the table almost a magical essence. It draws you in because the designers have been able to make its understated elegance completely overstated.
This is not only a beautiful piece it’s also a highly functional piece of furniture- the pull-out storage drawer runs all the way under the table providing enough storage for all your odds and ends… and this drawer is basically impossible to see.
This table is a smart investment. The tags guarantee its re-sale value. Furniture artisans in Denmark at the height of their game have created this piece. I’d say the table would be about 30 years old and can’t see any reason why it won’t last another 100 or more (with normal use). There’s no better way to invest in your home. If you decide you don’t want it years from now sell it back to me because I’ll have no problem stocking it in iNVISeDGE again!
If you have a similar item to sell AND YOU’RE A DEALER (you have a shop or market stall) I’d be very happy to list an item of this callibre online in iNVISeDGE (for around $700). NO COMMISSION FEE- you just pay us what you feel after we start bringing new customers into your business. We’d need about 10 photos from all angles- your photos would have to be similar in quality to those shown in this listing. (Read our blog on how to take good furniture photos if you need pointers.) If you don’t have a shop and you’re a dealer, we’d also stock at item like this online in iNVISeDGE, we’d find an online buyer for you and take control of the sales process on your behalf- in this case our commission fee would be 10% – 20%. Again we’d need about 10 good photos from various angles- about as good as those shown in this listing.
