Sold for $1395 in 2018. The customer paid $300 on top of this to have the lounge suite sent straight back down to Melbourne (which is where I bought it). $1695 all up. This suite was sold out of Brisbane.
A Vendome Loft Sofa Suite HAND-CRAFTED in Melbourne, Australia by Harbro (who’s been crafting furniture in Australia since 1976). This suite was sold by Clu Living in Richmond, Melbourne for $4250 (see the screen-shot in this listing). This design is a mainstay for Clu and they’re made to order for $4250 with a lead-time of 6 weeks. No need to wait 6 weeks here- this one is ready to go and in sensational condition! Clu is an Australian boutique furniture retailer winning various design awards and is getting notable accolades throughout Australia. How is it that this sofa suite sells for $4250 new (and is one of their most popular designs) when there’s so much other furniture that looks similar? The answer is simple. The Clu Vendome Loft Sofa has been built to last and ticks every box. Sumptuous comfort, DURABILITY and timeless “clean” looks. This unfussy design will work in any space and if you don’t have much space it’s awesome!
The thing I love most about this suite is the versatility of the design. It will always find a space it your home. The separate ottoman can be attached to the sofa (using top-quality Italian-made stainless-steel clips) to form EITHER a left or right chaise lounge and can also be used as a coffee table (just buy a tray if you want to sit drink/food on it). There’s also a storage compartment under the ottoman seat for magazines and throw-rugs etc. In addition, the back of the chaise seat works great as a separate armchair when detached (you’ll just need a cushion for the back).
The Vendome Loft Sofa is HAND-CRAFTED IN AUSTRALIA- the frame built from kiln-dried SOLID Australian timber- no chipboard under the upholstery here! The cushioning is QUALITY, long-lasting high-density foam that’s both supportive and plush. The upholstery is from Australian company, Warwick Fabrics with a guarantee for quality and durability. You’re paying for peace of mind here- from knowing that your sofa is going to last, is environmentally-friendly and hasn’t exploited workers in developing countries to produce it. There are NO greenhouse emissions to freight this furniture from overseas. I also love that because NO packaging was needed for freight. Tons of Styrofoam, PLASTIC wrapping, foam peanuts and bubble-wrap end up as landfill (and in our oceans) each year from furniture coming into Australia from developing countries. This sofa went straight from the Melbourne factory to the initial buyer in Melbourne (wrapped in thick removalist blankets only). The original buyer had to move overseas for work and after LESS THAN 6 months of use we bought this suite from him and got it sent up here to iNVISeDGE in Brisbane (our Melbourne depot was full at the time) again wrapped in thick removalist blankets.
Nothing has been compromised creating a sofa of the very highest quality, comfort and design. Yes- it can be hard to afford the best environmentally and socially-conscious products … not here though! This is basically what you’ll pay for something you’ll get made and sent from China AFTER you’ve paid your deposit! (Those cheap options can often take 12 weeks and more to come from China as well!)
CLU was awarded 2015 Retailer of the Year by the Australian Furniture Association and is set to do great things in the future.
The best description of the colour is black on the outside- (photos were taken in strong natural light) and mid-grey/charcoal for the seat cushions.
This suite is at least as good as Parker, Fler, Arthur G, Jardan, Camerich, Coco Republic, Vintage Danish designs. Virtually the same in quality as B & B Italia, Poliform.
