Out of stock

This vintage Douglas Snelling INSPIRED coffee table SOLD through my online ebay store way back in 2004 for $240. By 2007, I would have priced the exact table at around $360. These days in 2022 I’d sell this exact same table in iNVISeDGE for ABOUT $770 IF I ever found something like this again. SOLD! Keep following our NEWLY LISTED Category if you have interest in items such as this or follow us on Instagram! – www.instagram.com/invisedge .

This listing mainly appears for my REGULAR SELLERS so they know the types of coffee tables I’m wanting to stock in iNVISeDGE.

If you have a similar item to SELL AND YOU WANT TO SELL AS A PART-TIME THING THROUGH INVISeDGE (or you have an antique shop or market stall) I’d be very happy to list an item of this callibre online in iNVISeDGE (for around $770). 18.5% COMMISSION FEE for new sellers. (Less for shop owners who want to sell items directly through their shop, and want to reach a wider audience). If shop-owners supply us with good photos straight-up and want to regularly advertise items through iNVISeDGE, our commission fee will be 5.5% to 11% (negotiable depending on how many items you want to list and the terms of our agreement).

Items like this prove without refute that good vintage and antique designs never go out of style and most will increase in value (at least along with inflation). This type of item is a perfect addition if you own any type of shop- customers love items like this and the history makes them a great talking point. If you bought this table from iNVISeDGE in 2005 and want to sell it now, get in contact with us- you’ll make tidy profit from selling it! (Even with our commission fee deducted.)

Background Info and Provenance

I can’t find the description I wrote for this back in 2004. I didn’t know the maker or designer back then and still don’t. It looks Douglas Snelling in style to me but I know of no definitive maker. It is from the same era as Grant Featherston Contour furniture but again I don’t think Featherston is the designer here. It’s definitely vintage c. 1950’s. I think it was designed and made in Australia. I love the biomorphic shape- the curves are stunning!

Apart from being stunning, the top is SOLID TIMBER with a Tasmanian oak veneer (it’s TIMBER under the veneer) so this coffee table is much better in quality than virtually ALL coffee tables out there of the same era (eg. ALL Parker tables from the early 1960’s onwards are CHIPBOARD under timber veneer). The quality of Parker furniture is nowhere near as good as something like this- Parker tables end up as landfill if they’re not used with care.

This is why I’d be keen to stock something like this in iNVISeDGE- it’s INVESTMENT furniture. Again, if you’re a regular iNVISeDGE SELLER- it’s a real investment piece built to be passed on from one generation to the next.
