WRITTEN IN 2007

A stunning split-cane saucer chair in a very highly sought-after style. Celebrity Homes magazine (out in October 2007) approached iNVISeDGE for some interesting vintage items for their magazine and this is one of 3 pieces they selected for the magazine. It’s a stunning piece that has already captured attention and as the photos show it’s not hard to see why. This chair would suit a myriad of interiors. I’ve seen these in a couple of interior design magazines used with stunning effect. The eye-catching shape lends itself to designer interiors but its warm slant gives scope to add plenty of natural additions to your space and a more-earthy colour palette.

This chair also boasts superior construction qualities. It’s about 40 years old and is still very strong and durable- cane pieces hold up extremely well over time and are so tough some people use them outside on verandas. (I would recommend a covered space- a light splash of rain every now and then certainly wouldn’t ruin your investment.) Vintage pieces like this are a smart investment- if they look like this after 50 years of use the quality you’re getting is irrefutable. There’s no better way to invest in your home, reduce landfill and go carbon neutral.

The chair shown in this listing SOLD IN THE FIRST DAY IT WAS LISTED back in 2007.

ADD-ON IN 2018

I’m pretty sure this piece is Italian. It’s in the same style of Franco Albini pieces in the 1950’s. I stated above that I thought it was about 40 years old but back in 2007 when this was sold it actually would have been closer to 55 years old. (Today in 2018 these chairs are about 65 years old.) They rarely come up which strengthens my hunch that these are an Italian design (and were Italian made) but I could be wrong. Stunning and interesting design is an understatement.
