Description
This desk sold through iNVISeDGE in 2007 for $795. These days (in 2019) I’d price the same piece in iNVISeDGE at about $995 (depending on how quickly the seller needs the piece to be sold etc).
The description for this piece that was written in 2007 has been pasted below.
Background Info and Provenance
A very practical late-1940s or early-1950’s office desk with a classic design and a great style. A courtesy look over this piece is enough to see that this piece boasts top-quality construction. It has been well-crafted from a combination of SOLID maple and SOLID coachwood- there’s NO veneer used anywhere on the piece. What I like most about it is that you can plainly see it has been used extensively over its 50-odd years but still looks great. The piece has history and character and this is obvious the second you lay eyes on it. It can handle heavy use and is so functional. It offers loads of storage and desk space- a unique and unusual feature of the piece is the two slide-out side trays on each side to provide even more table space. This piece boasts a distinct 1950’s style. All the edges have also been rounded to give it a tidy appearance. It’s one of the best desks in this style I’ve seen in a long time- great dimensions, great patina and a highly functional piece you’ll love using. Classic designs from the 1950’s are getting really hard to get and will only increase in value in the future. Vintage pieces like this are well-built and have already proven themselves with regards to workmanship so are ready to provide another lifetime of use- they’re not a clip-together job that’ll end up as landfill in a few years. There’s no better way to invest in your home and reduce your carbon footprint.
