A stunning art deco outdoor suite from the 1950’s. This vintage outdoor suite was possibly made by Breotex of South Australia. This design is very clever because the chairs are comfortable to settle back in- the seats have been designed to fit the contours of the body very well. They’d look eye-catching on the balcony of an inner-city apartment or any garden setting really (as the photos show) and be something you’ll never want to part with. In fact, an outdoor suite in a very similar design was the first item I ever kept for myself after starting iNVISeDGE.
These suites don’t collect the rain like a lot of outdoor furniture, they dry quickly and will never corrode even in full weather. (I had mine for over 10 years and never washed it. It looked great that whole time but after about 8 years I needed to re-spray it). This suite is wrought iron so the metal will discolour in the weather over many years but it will never corrode. The rain (or salt air) WON’T eat away at the metal. Similar chairs are being made today out of cheap alloy metals- they will corrode and within about a decade they start to fall apart and will eventually end up as landfill. This authentic vintage outdoor suite on the other hand may need a re-spray after a decade but only for cosmetic purposes though (depending on how long you use it out in full weather). After that, this suite will still look exactly as it does today. I can’t see this suite losing ANY value over the years and in fact the value should only increase, I’d say in line with inflation at least. In the last 10 years these vintage outdoor suite have already PROVEN to increase in value (most suites like this have doubled in value over the last decade. I see no reason why this trend won’t continue.)
iNVISeDGE has had NO vintage outdoor furniture like this for about 12 years now- it’s getting really hard to find because most people who have it never want to part with it.
Apart from the DURABILITY, PRACTICALITY and OBVIOUS INVESTMENT APPEAL, this vintage outdoor suite also looks stunning. It has a distinct art deco style but with the space-age slant that was popular at the time.
The design of this outdoor suite is amazing- like many of the dynamic furniture designs of this era, it draws inspiration from man’s space travels. The biggest drawcard of these chairs is their durability- look at them after about 70 years of being used outside! There are very few better ways to invest in your home and in the future of our environment.
