Description
All 4 stools SOLD for $1,760 the set within 5 days of being listed (in 2023).
LOCATION- Coburg North, MELBOURNE but these can be freighted Australia-wide by a specialist furniture carrier. Approx. $300 to get both these stools to Sydney. Approx. $100 to most areas of Melbourne.
The listed price is $440 PER stool- to be sold only as a set of 4. Even if you want only 3 you’d be stupid not to invest in the forth one. Matching sets of 4 of these are near impossible to get making this a very strong investment with exceptional re-sale value. The original vinyl tops are very dark forest-green, almost black but not quite. This shows in our photos if you scrutinize them closely- this is how they look in person.
Background Info and Provenance
(This description was written in late-2023. Some information may be time-sensitive eg. values.)
A stunning set of 4 Gerald Easden barstools / bar stools for Module Furniture, Melbourne – the frames are solid TEAK. I’ve not seen a matching set of 4 of these for many years. These are the first Gerald Easden bar stools we’ve ever had (after 22 years of trading). They are definitely one of the most beautiful barstool designs to ever come out of Australia. TH Brown & Sons stools are probably the only Australian design that would trump these but I like these just as much. This design is more minimalist and if you want something without a back they are the better choice.
There’s an extraordinary amount of work in these. The sculptural elegance is something to be experienced to be believed. These frames are more sculptural than they may first appear- sleek, stylish and elegant but very solid and strong due to the exceptional workmanship in each corner (and the metal cross-supports). The exceptional nature of the joint areas can’t be seen but make no mistake, these are well built chairs. I’ve never seen or heard of anything wrong with a Module bar stool after being in this business for 22 years.
I doubt we’ll ever get a matching set of 4 again. It’s not easy to create curves in solid timber, so designs of this standard are rarely seen these days. If this design was made today to this exact standard, the price would be around this even if the chairs were made in China (where they usually cut corners so your item ends up as landfill quicker). If the Module furniture factory fired up again in Australia and made these Gerald Easden stools again to this exact standard, you’d be paying at least $700 PER STOOL. The investment appeal on offer here is a no-brainer.
These Gerald Easden Easeden bar stools by Module Furniture of Melbourne are comfortable, SUPER-STYLISH and incredibly durable. They retain the original S1 AUSTRALIAN FURNITURE STANDARDS label under the seats. These labels were used on quality Australian-made furniture in the late-1960’s- these labels guarantee the durability, QUALITY and provenance of what’s on offer here. But the proof is in the pudding- look at these bar stools after about 55 years of use- absolutely no condition issues to disclose at all. To say they have been built to last a generation is a lie- they’ve already lasted several generations and are ready to be passed onto the next one. I have no doubt they will be loved for another 50 years (or more).
In my opinion, the only way the value of these stools can go is up! (Like every other iNVISeDGE item we’ve sold over the last 22 years.) Add investment appeal to the list of advantages on offer here.
Why buy a set of modern stools that will lose value by about HALF the second you walk them out of the shop? Here, you are offered stools built IN AUSTRALIA about 55 years ago that should only increase in value in the future. Plus, by supporting iNVISeDGE, you’re supporting a business that’s been meeting the challenge of running a small business in Australia for over 20 years. It’s a win for everybody. I can’t think of any better way to invest in your home and reduce landfill. (EVERY SINGLE item in my home is vintage or was purchased second-hand- except a couple of my electrical appliances- and every single item has increased in value whilst I’ve enjoyed using it in my home. Again, excluding some electrical appliances.)
