Provenance and Background Info

(Written in 2011. This set of 4 chairs sold through iNVISeDGE for $695 in 2011. I’ve not come across this design ever since so I’d stock the exact same chairs for $795 these days.)

A set of 4 Ice dining chairs made in Italy by Calligaris. To my knowledge the ice chair has not been retailed in Brisbane so Brisbane buyers have an opportunity to get the true designer look for their home. (These were sent up in my last Sydney batch of items.) Calligaris is committed to design and engireering excellence and in this instance has created a chair that ticks every box. These chairs are stunning and change during the day depending on the lighting and what’s behind them. This design is also supremely comfortable- I’ve been using one as a desk chair for some time now. I work behind a desk for at least six hours a day and this is one of the most comfortable chairs I’ve had. I also love the transparency of the clear diamond cut design- it’s understated but also noticed. They’re also durable. The steel base is gracefully attached to a strong polycarbonate seat. With normal use they’ll last a lifetime (or more). These chairs are not vintage (most of what I sell is 1940’s-1970’s) however they fit every criteria in what I’m searching in furniture. Made in 2008, these have had 3-4 years of use and still display beautifully (the owners are now moving overseas).

Calligaris of Italy built a world-wide reputation for their designs and its work like this that have cemented their position as a design house that’s worth watching. This is a set of chairs that will tell stories well into the future.
