VINTAGE dining chairs. Most likely made in Australia in the 1960’s. EVERY chair is solid and sturdy after about 50 years of use! Incredible QUALITY- the construction of these is A1. Stunning sculptural shape with a Danish design aesthetic. I love the colours- this set has a minimalist Scandinavian look with these lighter tones. Sooooo comfortable- you just melt into these! Perfect angles- these chairs hold you in perfect seating position. Nice curved shape to the seat and back- these chairs seem to just hug you. The curved plywood seat and back are a symbol of quality- cheaper chairs use webbing that sags and breaks over time- these won’t and haven’t after about 50 years of use! I think they may be made by Chiswell or are possibly early Parker chairs renovated in the 1980’s- I’m a bit stumped about the provenance of these. They’re not common as there’s a lot of work in them. The quality is easily in line with all Parker and Chiswell dining chairs from the 1960’s.
If you’re interstate and keen for these chairs, delivery to Sydney (as an example) would be about $200 for all 4 chairs. I will consider selling to an interstate customer after these chairs have been in the shop for 6 weeks. I have about 18 more photos of this set. Call me on 0412 757 348 if you’re interstate, need more photos and want to move ahead with buying this set. Brisbane customers must buy from the pop-up shop in NEWSTEAD.

Overall this FULL set is in brilliant original condition for the age (early-1960's). They’re about 60 years old and EVERY chair presents very well. The frames are all solid and sturdy with NO current breaks, NO movement in any joint area, NO cracks in any joint area (nothing of the sort). One chair sustained a break AT LEAST 10 years ago that was repaired at the time BY A PROFESSIONAL. It is now as strong as it was when the chairs were first made. The repair is not noticeable unless you're inspecting this area very carefully (see my close-up photos in this listing and use the SUPER-SIZE tool). This chair has been used for AT LEAST 10 YEARS since it was professionally repaired with no problems at all. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The timber on all chairs may have a few minor surface marks and knocks but nothing that's noticed. The quality of the build is second to none- TH Brown & Sons are a highly respected brand and made BETTER than any Parker chair. Note the thickness of the sculptured frames (in SOLID HARDWOOD- similar Parker chairs have PLYWOOD backs with a TEAK VENEER!). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The ORIGINAL vinyl is vintage and PREMIUM IN QUALITY. The vinyl is soft, pliable and comfortable after about 60 years of use. Some modern vinyls will crack and split within years. Not this VINTAGE vinyl. The vinyl may have a couple of very minor signs of use but every chair is in incredible condition overall for chairs of this age. The original cushioning from the 1960's is incredible in quality- it's still plush and super-comfortable. The chairs present extremely well and are ready to be used and loved for another 60 years (providing you use them with some sense- do NOT let teenager kids swing back on 2 legs- they should be sat on using four legs. The last set of these chairs we had measured cm across, with a depth of about cm (including the posts). This design has a total height of cm. Seat height is about cm. Depth of seat- cm. FREIGHT- approx 1.3 cbm all up for all 6. Read my 1200+ feedback comments on ebay to be assured that these chairs are exactly as described and that I will not stock items unless they are in excellent condition.
