Provenance and Background Info
(Written in 2011. We sold these chairs in iNVISeDGE for $690 for the 4 back in 2011. These days I would only stock a set of 6 in this design and would price them in iNVISeDGE at around $1095 for 6 (depending of the colour!)
A set of 4 Slick Slick dining chairs made in France by xO, designed by Phillipe Starck. Phillippe Starck is one of the most significant designers of our time. In 1984 Starck launched a new design label called xO with Gerard Mialet- the xO label has been hugely successful and of the hundreds of designs released by the company the Slick-Slick chair has been one of the most successful. Slick-Slick chairs were first designed in 1999 and 12 years later are still one of xO’s best sellers. There are many reasons for this. The Slick Slick chair is a comfortable chair that cradles you making it very comfortable to sit in. The Slick Slick chair also stacks cleanly. It’s suitable to use inside or out. It provides a sleek elegant look that’s certainly noticed yet also minimalist. Most importantly the Slick Slick chair is durable benefiting from the most advanced technology around, gas-assisted injection, which makes the chair both heavy-duty and light-weight. The Slick Slick has everything going for it and is the choice of many café’s particularly in Europe and will continue its legacy for many years to come.
In Australia I could only find the Slick Slick chair in one retail outlet Classique, based in Sydney and doesn’t have any shops in Brisbane .Classique retails the Slick Slick for $249 each. ($996 for four). This set was made in 2005 and over six years on has sustained very little signs of use).
This set of Slick Slick chairs is a proud addition to our current stock inventory. I have every confidence in the design, durability and timelessness of the set. When other modern chairs have ended up at the tip this set of French made chairs by one of the most innovative and respected designers of our time will still be doing what they were designed to do. There are massive variations in the quality of plastic chairs on the market these days- this set has been designed to stand the test of time. Look at them after 6 years of use. There’s no better way to invest in your home (or outdoor area!) and our environment.
