Set of 4 VINTAGE TH Brown & Sons Bar Stools. LABELLED Vintage Originals. One stool also has the VINTAGE S1 Furniture Standards Label used in the 1960’s through until the early-1970’s in Australia. These stools would be at least 50 YEARS OLD. Amazing vintage condition. To buy this set call us using the phone number in our CONTACT section. These are now being made new again by TH Brown & Sons in Adelaide and the RRP is $1300 EACH.
LOCATION- being sold from a new regular iNVISeDGE seller based in ADELAIDE, South Australia. Delivery Australia-wide is possible. It’d cost about $300 to transport all 4 stools to Melbourne (to give you an example of interstate furniture freight costs).
Background Info and Provenance
A set of 4 TH Brown & Sons barstools made in Australia about 50 YEARS AGO. These are authentic VINTAGE originals from the 1960’s (and have labels underneath to verify this). This is an iconic AUSTRALIAN design and production. TH Brown & Sons did 2 designs of these stools- the more common is called the “Danish” version- these are the “Swedish” version (released after the Danish version to match TH Brown “Milan” dining chairs.) These stools are so popular that TH Brown & Sons chose this as their first design to put back into production in 2016 (after a spell of more than 50 years!). NEW TH Brown barstools are selling for $1300 EACH. The investment appeal here is a NO-BRAINER. If these bar stools sell for anything less than $900 EACH the buyer has got an obvious investment. These authentic originals will only continue to increase in value over time. These really should have the same value as new ones (and in the future they will! ALL vintage Danish designs now fetch a LOT more than those designs that are still being produced today).
The quality has well and truly proven itself here. Just look at this set after about 50 YEARS of use- incredible! You know they’ve been built to last because they have! This set has NO creaks or groans, NO separation in any joint area, NO structural issues AT ALL. I have no doubt this set will continue to increase in value along with inflation forever. Where else are you going to find a matching set of 4 of vintage ones? And yes, we can say they certainly won’t break in the future if you use them with any sense.
These stools have increased in value an incredible amount over the 21 years I’ve been in this business. In 2005 they were selling for about $300 each! By 2014, they were selling in the high-end, vintage shops in Sydney and Melbourne for about $1000 EACH. And as already mentioned, these same shops now sell the new ones for $1300 EACH.
This evidence of increasing values, gives anyone real incentive to invest in quality vintage design- if you buy smartly, vintage items will virtually always increase in value plus there’s no better way to reduce landfill. These pieces were built to last and if the design still inspires today (about 60 years after it was first released) no-one can dispute that these vintage productions have timeless good-looks too. Good design is not influenced by trends it keeps inspiring us regardless of who is looking at them and when! Thank you Th Brown & Sons for leaving us with such great furniture to keep on enjoying (and inspiring the crafts-people of today).
