Provenance and Background Info

A Grande Papilio armchair designed by Naoto Fukasawa in 2009 for B and B Italia. B and B Italia stands in a small select group as one of the most successful design firms of our time- well known for hundreds of prestigious designs, plus B & B Italia have an unwavering reputation for producing furniture of the upmost quality and durability. Their work stands the test of time both with regards to timeless design and the quality of construction.
“The Grande Papilio is an armchair that welcomes you gracefully- with the graceful movement of a butterfly, or “Papilio” in Latin. Marked by a strong personality, fluidly designed around an upside-down truncated cone, the generously large upper section of the backrest and the welcoming and sinuous shape of the seat ensure utmost comfort to the user. The backrest, characterised by a visible zipper that allows the cover to be removed, is designed as two wings that envelop and protect the head, emphasising the feeling of comfort and offering peace and tranquillity.” (Taken from the B & B Italia website.)
This particular chair is upholstered in fabric and is fitted with a HEAVY swivelling system. The chair retails new from SPACE Furniture for AU $10,695 so the investment appeal also gets a resounding tick. The cheapest second-hand one I saw at the time of writing was for AU $4,924. Our offers-over price provides a no-brainer investment that will serve you well in the future if you ever need to sell it. I doubt you’ll see another around for some time, if ever (at any price!) And I can see this piece increasing in value whilst you get to use and enjoy it.
After the flashy “designer” furniture of today has ended up as landfill, this design classic will be passed onto yet another pair of hands and then an entirely new generation. There’s no better way that I can think of to invest in your home and the future of our environment.

As the photos show, this chair is in excellent condition. The construction is VERY solid- the frame is heavy and this is a high-quality upholstery- virtually nothing could happen to this design. This swivel chair is strong and sturdy with NO cracks around any joint, NO movement in any joint area, NO wobbles, NO breaks, NO repairs. The swivel mechanism operates perfectly. This chair is about 7 years old so it may have some very minor signs of use- nothing that draws your eye at all. There is a very feint, small mark on the seat- so feint that from most angles it can not be detected at all. From one angle you might notice it- it's very feint (a rectangle-type shape)- I have included multiple photos to show this. It's exactly like this in person. This is a pedantic observation that has only been disclosed for the nit-pickers. A normal person would not see what I'm pointing out. It shows up in the photo labelled (10) on the end. Click on the Magnifying Tool to enlarge each image, then click on the enlarged image to Supersize it. When you click through the photos, stop on the photo that has (10) on the end. There were also two specs on the camera lens during this photo shoot- it's pretty clear that this is not damage to the chair and something on the lens. If you look at various photos you'll notice 2 small spots but they look like small circular shadows- not spots in the fabric. These 2 small spots appear at different areas of the chair but always the same position in the photos.
