$329.00

We sold one of these Breotex loungers for $195 back in 2004 and then another for $329 back in 2007. These days in 2019 I’d price the exact same piece at around $550 – $600- I haven’t come across another for a long time. Since our Breotex listings have appeared on our website we’ve had various enquiries from people wanting to buy these chairs / this suite. If you have a similar items you’d like to sell get in contact with us! Our commission fee is 5% – 18.5%.

Background Info and Provenance

Description written in 2007

A 2 -SEATER outdoor seat from the 1950’s with a stunning design. This design is very clever because it is so comfortable to settle back in- the seat has been designed with angles to maximize comfort. It may not look comfortable but surprisingly, it is. This would look eye-catching on the balcony of an inner-city apartment. In fact, an outdoor suite in this type of design was the first item I ever kept for myself- I absolutely love it and still have it today. This furniture doesn’t collect the rain like a lot of outdoor furniture, it dries quickly and will not go mouldy or discolour in full weather. (I’ve had my suite for over three years and have never washed it and it looks the same as the day I put it outside in full weather.) I have seen only ONE other of these 3-seaters in the 5 years I’ve been doing this- I sold it over 3 years ago for far too cheap! The design of this is amazing- looks fantastic, is so practical and comfortable. The biggest draw-card of this type of furniture is its durability- this piece would already be about 50 years old so it’ll look this good for another lifetime. This piece was most likely done by BREOTEX- a South Australian company who produced some of the best Australian designs of the era- I’m not certain of this because the settee is so rare- I’d be very surprised to hear it wasn’t Bretoex though. I have big tabs on this stuff and feel it’s worth a lot of more than its current value- this is a true investment piece.

And that last statement has turned out to be true- it is worth a lot more today (in 2019) than it was back in 2007- about double.
