Background Info and Provenance
Possibly the most stunning lamp-base I’ve ever had- this one is incredible! (The listed price does NOT include the spun fibreglass shade.) The colours, refraction occurring within this lamp-base and the bleeding of yellow and blue together is captivating. I’ve never seen anything like it in the 20 years I’ve been in this business. I got it sent in from Europe. To my knowledge nothing like this was ever made in Australia.
It’s hard to pinpoint the age- I initially thought it could be a 1970’s piece but then thought possibly 50’s. The twin-cord indicates it’s more likely to be 50’s but I really don’t know here. (That’s how rare this is.)
With the current throw-away mentality finally being questioned and the revolving door of wasted energy, time and resources cycling faster than ever as more and more stuff ends up as landfill, it’s refreshing to come across an item that has stood the test of time for over 40 years and looks set to stand up to another 40 or more. There are very few better ways to invest in your home and the future of our environment.

This piece is in brilliant condition with no condition issues that warrant a mention. It’s definitely vintage so has signs of use but nothing that’s noticeable. It has a European plug but I have used it with a converter-plug (that I paid $2 for ) with no issues. There is an on-off switch up near the top. As shown in the photos it is in perfect working order but as with all vintage electrics I need to state that it is your responsibility to have it professionally checked prior to use.

With the millions of cardboard boxes that end up as landfill every year we don’t believe in supporting the manufacture of boxes for post. Instead of buying new boxes and packing materials and passing this cost onto our customers we spend considerable time sourcing used boxes and then fashioning boxes to fit each item. We do the same for bubble-wrap and foam pieces. This requires a large investment of time, energy, ingenuity, organization and storage space- it is much easier and cheaper to buy new packing materials but I can’t justify taking the easy way out when so much packing material ends up polluting our earth. Our $3.00 charge does little to pay for the time (and storage) needed do this and to pack your item (there is also the time needed to get your package to the post office). This is something we’re happy to do for our customers and the environment. We appreciate your support in this area.
