Provenance and Background Info
(Written in 2024).
A Timeout recliner chair and footstool designed in 2007 by Jahn Aamodt for CONFORM, Sweden. This design has been incredibly well conceived and as a result has now been in continuous production for 17 years.
These are AMAZING chairs! Stunning shape, stylish look, durable construction (SWEDISH MADE!) and a comfort that has to be experienced to be believed! These chairs swivel (with a return-to-start mechanism), they RECLINE, plus the headrest is fully adjustable. The headrest pulls up for extra height at the top and the angle of the headrest can be adjusted to suit your height and how you want your head to sit. These are easily some of the best chairs we’ve had. I want them for myself! PLUS, they each have a matching footstool for even more comfort! The ergonomics of the design is spot-on- just look at the angles and height of the back. (These are some of the tallest chairs we’ve ever had but they don’t look it. They have the refined, elegant style the Swedes are famous for.)
After 10 years of collaboration, Swedish brand Conform consistently wows with its modern iterations of classic shapes. Look no further than the Timeout recliner, a best-seller that stands out with its ergonomic design, recline mechanism and unique pairing of leather and timber. I love the light coloured timber and camel-coloured leather which gives them a real Scandinavian flavour.
The construction is top quality. These chairs are pure luxury and don’t have the bulky, ugly look of most recliners (they don’t even look like they could possibly recline)- plus, the durability is assured. This pair is about 10 years old- just look at them- very little indication of the age and they still work exactly as they should.
Made by CONFORM of Sweden (clearly marked to the base) and stocked by Fanuli in Sydney, the people I bought these Conform recliner chairs from said they cost new about $12,000 THE PAIR. But you don’t have to take their word for it. A quick Google Search uncovered a price on a US website (Mai5on Corbeil). They’re currently ON SALE for $5,902 EACH (in Australian $).
After many modern pieces have ended up as landfill, this quality pair of Timeout RECLINER chairs by Conform, Sweden, will be passed onto yet another owner, a symbol that when something has been done well it will live on. Investing in QUALITY, second-hand designer furniture is a great way to go.
