Background Info and Provenance

A LARGE cut crystal table lamp from the art deco period- c. 1940’s. This is a good size- it stands at AROUND 27cm in height. (I haven’t measured this one yet- let us know if you need an exact measurement.) This is most likely a Bohemian / Czechoslovakian piece. These crystal lamps are an icon of the era and ideal in any home. From a distance, they’re barely noticeable against a white wall, just a twinkle in the background making them perfect in a minimalist designer interior, up close they’re captivating and at night they look amazing when switched on giving the room a stunning ambience. They cast patterned shadows over the walls.

I first bought one of these art deco lamps years ago to sell in my store but after I had it awhile, I couldn’t bring myself to sell it! These days I always have one or two at home- I love them.

This lamp is a 1940’s art deco original. Its heavy cut crystal- the plug and cord is still original from the 1940’s era. The electricals show no damage or noticeable signs of use (and is in working condition) but in this day and age I need to state that vintage electrics should be checked by a qualified electrician prior to use.

These lamps are a great investment. Although times (and interiors) have changed they still attract attention and are highly sought-after by people in all different homes from chic minimalist through to period homes with dark timber and regal colours like maroon and gold. If you look after this piece it will continue to be passed onto future generations. After other lamps have ended up as landfill, this piece will still stand apart- a symbol that when something has been done well, it will live on. There are few better ways to invest in your home and reduce landfill. (How does buying something like this reduce landfill? … Recycling what we already have is our only way out of this mess!)
