Provenance and Background Info
This is one of the best dining tables ever built in Australia. Made by DANISH DELUXE in the 1970’s, this table can squeeze in 12 when extended (10 very comfortably because of the sled-base). Despite its huge size, it boasts an incredibly sleek and refined style inspired by Scandinavian design. At 240cm long, it’s a great size. You could search some time before you find another one like this. This one is perfect for any space- it’s compact in its unextended state but once the butterfly extension is employed it’s big enough for any occasion- perfect to get the family together at Christmas!
What I love most about this table is the sled-base. The sled-base means the legs of the table will NEVER dictate where you put your chairs- this table is more adaptable and practical compared to virtually all others out there in the mid-century style. This table presents very well as is but if it was refinished I’d call this a “pinnacle piece”- it sits at the top- there’s virtually nothing better you could buy. The sled-base is more expensive to produce and I think looks better than all the others out there in this style as well.
The best part about investing in this table is exactly that … you’re investing! In the last 20 years I’ve been in this business, I’ve consistently sold 10-seater extension tables for MORE than previous ones I had (if the condition has been the same). If you look after this piece it should continue to INCREASE in value along with inflation forever. (When modern tables become more expensive to buy, your table will also INCREASE in value the same amount- as long as it stays in a similar condition- use place-mats if you’re fastidious about protecting your investment.) The quality of the extension mechanism is beyond what you’ll see in any new table (most modern tables DON’T have the butterfly extension (this extension is a pleasure to use- so quick and easy.)
Produced in Australia in the 1970’s by Danish Deluxe, this piece shows us why investing in quality vintage design is such an intelligent thing to do. This table has certainly NOT been pandered to (the previous owners did not use a table-cloth on it) but look at it! After nearly 50 years it’s ready to be used and enjoyed by a new generation. Bravo to quality design!
The iNVISeDGE business is operated SOLELY by locals, we have no overseas call-centres, items are protected during delivery using reusable packing-blankets- NO plastic shrink wrap and bubble-wrap is used here (some of our packing blankets are as old as the furniture itself!). The iNVISeDGE business and the owner of the iNVISeDGE business doesn’t even own a vehicle! We support local businesses (mainly family businesses) to get our products in and out of our depots (or consignment seller’s homes). There’s no better way to invest in your home, show you care about our earth AND support of local small business.

This table is in excellent condition for the age of this piece. It is very solidly constructed and there is no damage or movement to the structure of the piece at all. It shows superior construction techniques. It is structurally solid with NO wobbles, NO cracks and NO repairs around any joint. The table extends effortlessly and is very well designed. It employs aluminium glides underneath for the extension pieces- these glides will never rust or corrode. The surface of the table is in excellent condition overall for a table that’s about 50 years old- it has a few very minor signs of use but nothing that spoils the piece. Please use the magnifying tool to get close and personal with the surface condition of the table. All our photos are taken in strong natural light and clearly show the entire surface of the table. Please take your time to experiment with the magnifying glass tool- you can zoom in VERY closely and inspect all areas of the table so you'll know exactly what you're getting before committing to the purchase. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
If you’re after perfection this table COULD CERTAINLY be hand-sanded EASILY and refinished to look virtually like new again. If you want to save money carefully hand-sand the table yourself! (And then get a professional to apply the finish- this would then cost you very little.) Hand-sanding is very therapeutic, especially after working hard mentally and it’s nice to put some of your own energy and love into what you'll be living with. This piece is probably going to be with a long time! (There's no need to rush re-finishing it or if you're not that way inclined employ a professional from start to finish.) ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ There’s a tonal variation with the extension pieces (compared to the rest of the table). This is clearly shown in my photos and to be expected of a table that's this old and has never been sanded back and restored. The table wasn’t permanently extended- most vintage tables in this huge size will look like this before being re-finished. This tonal variation can be completely eliminated by a professional when the table is refinished if this bothers you (providing you clearly communicate to this them prior to employing them.) ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Measurements. 210cm X 97cm. Height- 72.5cm. It extends to have a length of 278cm. I have not seen many tables bigger than this- the largest Parker ones tend to be about 266cm. It’s ideal to have folded up, even in a small inner-city apartment, but extends to be large enough for dinner parties. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
