Description
Pricing for this highly-unusual modular suite … OFFERS OVER $350 PER chair, $480 for each CURVED piece (with 2 unfinished ends) or $580 for each CURVED piece (with a FINISHED end). We have 6 CURVED pieces all up (2 with a right-hand finished end, 2 with a left), 2 curved pieces with 2 unfinished ends PLUS 6 chair sections that are NOT curved. (The boxy pieces are different sizes 48cm through to 60cm for extra practicality (they all look very similar in size though). Prices for a full modular unit depend on how many pieces you want and what pieces we’ll be left with. There are 2 curved pieces (both with a finished end- one left, one right) plus 2 modular chairs (NOT curved) that have not been photographed). If you want a HUGE suite, (bigger than what’s photographed), it’s possible!
These pieces would be perfect in a dining nook- super comfortable and it’s a really cool, stylish look around a dining table. Alternatively, it’s perfect as an occasional lounge in your second lounge room or as a waiting lounge in a commercial space. The advantage is the modular form which allows a lot of cope to change the size and configuration if your needs constantly change or change after you move premises or house.
LOCATION- the iNVISeDGE depot in Morayfield, Brisbane Northside.
Provenance & Background Information

Clearly one of the best designs I’ve come across in over 20 years of trading, this takes the modular lounge to a whole new level. The possibilities are endless here- sofa with a chaise on the left side, right-sided chaise, unique U shape lounge, toddlers “play-pen”OR “sloth centre” for watching movies (!), two matching 4-seater sofas or even a single 6, 7 or 8 seat sofa. Whenever you move house, you’ll always create the perfect configuration for this suite. I love the nougat colour- it’s warm and inviting in looks but also fresh and “contemporary” PLUS this FULL-GRAIN leather is so practical- so easy to look after and keep clean. The other thing I love is its curvilinear form. The arcs are pleasing on the eye- no harsh edges or boxy shapes here. Curves in lounges are pretty rare because they are much harder to make.
This is similar to Grant Featherston’s much-acclaimed Numero IV design but it’s in leather so the lighter colour here is much more practical than in the Numero IV modular (a soft “pliable” fabric must be used on the Numero IV such as crepe-wool; in lighter colours it will show the dirt). A Numero IV suite in lighter colours would never be put in a home with children or a commercial situation but this could definitely be used in those situations because great-quality leather like this is not hard to look after.
The Numero IV is one of Featherston’s most heralded designs. In recent years it has become HOT property- prices have skyrocketed lately (and are set to keep going up too!). This design is just as attractive in my eyes (mainly because of the light FULL-GRAIN LEATHER). It’s not big and bulky in looks- it has the elegance of Danish furniture- there’s a real refined elegance here. Which leads me to the provenance of this suite. When I bought it I was told it was Danish- it’s definitely not Australian- you won’t see anything like this again in Australia. It came off a shipment of vintage furniture that came from Denmark (bought in by Grandfather’s Axe of Melbourne). It may have been created in another European country though. No-one would be entirely sure. It definitely has some age to it though, because this is SECOND-GENERATION upholstery. It was upholstered in a textile fabric previously- I much prefer the leather though (in a light colour … okay I’ve harped on about that enough now … !)
The investment appeal on offer here is a no-brainer. The leather for each chair section that we’ve priced at $350 would retail at about $400 alone- that’s without the specialist cost of having it upholstered! The retail cost of all the materials alone would be about $500 per piece- that EXCLUDES ALL workmanship. Try finding something like this again in this price bracket!
The thing that ended up really selling me on this design is the versatility- imagine this set up around a dining table! As I’ve already said, the possibilities are endless (and did I mention how good it looks in a light-coloured leather ?? … sorry! … I just had to!!! ;+) ;+) :+)
This design ticks EVERY box and resoundingly so- PLUS it’s a very astute investment. Quality vintage design constantly appreciates in value (if you buy right)- it’s a win/win for everybody… for you, our environment and our local community (ALL iNVISeDGE staff and support businesses are 100% LOCAL!). There’s no better way I can think of to invest in your home and the future of our environment (whenever you invest in vintage furniture, you’re doing your part to reduce future landfill).
