Background Info and Provenance

SOMEONE KNOWLEDGEABLE IN THIS AREA HAS DOCUMENTATION TO VERIFY THAT THIS IS IN FACT A FLER DESIGN. I will endeavour to re-write the description below if I get a chance to but these are definitely a FLER design done in mid-1960’s.
(Written before I was sent documentation of the designer, which is FLER.)
An amazing 1950’s PAIR of sculptural easy chairs (PRICE IS PER CHAIR). These would give a stunning architectural slant to any space. And the comfort is also brilliant! Featherston’s Numero IV design takes very strong cues from this design but this design is infinitely better (and came before the Numero IV). The comfort of this pair is incredible- the angles of the seat and back coupled with the curves creates a design that holds you in a perfect seating position. I have a bad back and these are perfect for me- my back needs to be held at the right angle to take all pressure off my back muscles. These chairs do that- I can’t do the soft squishy chairs that feel comfortable the second you sit down but then become more and more uncomfortable the longer you’re in them. With the stunning architectural styling of this pair you’d be forgiven for thinking something that looks so incredible would be uncomfortable- they’re NOT! The Numero IV has little or no support- they’re basically like sitting in a shaped beanbag- these are proper chairs that have been carefully designed with proper ergonomic comfort in mind.
I’ve tried researching the designer of these- I’ve given up. Over the past 5 or so years I’ve been actively trying to get more information about them. I’m not sure it exists online! I’ve seen this design for sale TWICE in 20 years! Both are being sold by dealers with considerable experience and both say two different designers. One chair is labelled as a FLER design and the other (a suite) says the design was done by Grant Featherston. Both are the most esteemed designers ever to emerge from this country. In my opinion FLER and Featherston are on par with each other. Regardless of who did it, it’s a brilliant design- one of the best to ever come from Australia but to add to the investment appeal- these are SUPER RARE! I can’t find any other photos of this design online (except for the 2 screenshots included with this listing).
You want something unique, COMFORTABLE with very strong investment appeal these could be the special pair you’ve been searching for. They look great as they are but reupholstered in fabric they’d could be as stylish or fun as you want.
Add DURABILITY to the list of advantages here … these have a good deal of age to them (I think they’re 1960’s ?? the Aristoc label looks 60’s to me). Aristoc re-branded with a name-change in 1968 so they’re at least 50 years old- I’m inclined to think they’re closer to 60 years old and my gut is saying they were designed by Featherston. They fit in with his bio. I believe this design was not put into “proper production”. Featherston did various designs during his illustrious career that are similar to this including a design in late-1950’s that was also not put into mass-production- made exactly this way. (That design has been documented- this design to my knowledge has not been). After most modern “designer” chairs have ended up as landfill this fascinating pair will be passed onto a new generation hopefully telling more stories than I could here. I’m sure more background information about this design will emerge in the future. There’s no better way I can think to invest in your home and reduce your carbon footprint. (Written- August 2020).
NOTE again- (update late August 2020) someone knowledgeable in this field has documentation to substantiate this is a very rare FLER design made in 1968. (Called the Fler Idler).
