Background Info and Provenance
A piece of vintage Italian art-glass from the Murano region. I’ve held onto this one for several years hoping to find a definitive maker. I believe it was done by Fulvio Bianconi. He first did these designs with holes during the late 1940’s and carried them through into the early 1950’s. I believe this came a bit later (maybe later 50’s)- it’s a lot more sophisticated than the early ones I saw online. There is no signature but I’m certain it’s a piece of vintage Murano but by whom I’m not so certain. One thing is for sure though- this style of design is ridiculously rare and must be near impossible to do by hand (it’s obvious this is a HAND-MADE piece). I’ve Googled the internet for ages and found very few like this. One of the Bianconi pieces I found on-line was on 1st Dibs for US $5000- US$5000 was average for this style, many were more (the US$5000 one has been included in the photos above). The 1st Dibs one is relatively flat- the piece on offer here has a wonderful biomorphic shape- it’s an incredibly fluid, curvaceous piece. The colour is distinctly mid-century Murano particularly with the clear base. The workmanship required to create this piece is nothing short of inspiring!
This is one you won’t see again- guaranteed to be HAND-WORKED and vintage. An exceptional Murano artist piece that will mesmerize you for many years. The thing is good art never goes out of fashion- it only becomes more prized as time goes on. There are very few better ways to invest in your home and reduce landfill.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition. NO chips, NO cracks, NO repairs. It’s vintage so has minor signs of use but nothing that’s noticed or warrants a specific mention. With the millions of cardboard boxes that end up as landfill every year we don’t believe in supporting the manufacture of boxes for post. Instead of buying new boxes and packing materials and passing this cost onto our customers we spend considerable time sourcing used boxes and then fashioning boxes to fit each item. We do the same for bubble-wrap and foam pieces. This requires a large investment of time, energy, ingenuity, organization and storage space- it is much easier and cheaper to buy new packing materials but I can’t justify taking the easy way out when so much packing material ends up polluting our earth. Our $3.00 charge does little to pay for the time (and storage) needed do this and to pack your item (there is also the time needed to get your package to the post office). This is something we’re happy to do for our customers and the environment. We appreciate your support in this area.
