Provenance and Background Info

(This nest of 3 side tables sold for $695 for all 3 through iNVISeDGE back in 2006. These days in 2019 I’d price the exact same suite at around $795. The G-Plan ones are extremely hard to get.)

NOTE- This description was written back in 2006. I’d write it a bit differently in 2019 but decided to keep the  description as it was written back then.)

A nest of 3 teak and oak side tables by G-PLAN of England. This English company have enjoyed world-wide acclaim for their furniture and are respected and renowned in Europe for furniture of quality and innovative, timeless design. This set has an exceptionally fluid style with its curves and circular shapes, which are very rarely seen in timber furniture. Australian company, Kalmar have copied this design (extremely well, I might add) but this is the original of this design so therefore has a lot more investment appeal. This G-PLAN suite was never retailed in Australia and was bought across from England by the previous owners (there is an International Removals sticker underneath to verify this). Produced in the 1960s, which vouches for the timelessness of the design- someone loved them so much to send them across the globe and then enjoy them for many years after, therefore the design is special and certainly worth investing in. Items with this sort of appeal from the 1960s/70s era are almost impossible to find- this set would get plenty of attention in your home for all the right reasons. A great space-saver and incredibly practical, if something like this was re-released today, IN THE SAME QUALITY- I’d say the price-tag would be in the vicinity of $1200 because of the extent of the work involved.

This suite from the 1960’s has unquestionable construction quality- look at them after more than 50 years of use! A great way to invest in your home and reduce landfill!
