Background Info and Provenance

A chair and footstool designed by Gerald Easden for Module Furniture in the early 1970’s. This is some of the best quality furniture you’ll ever see. Both pieces still sport the S1 Furniture Standards label from the early-1970’s.

This design won an Australian Design Award in the 1970’s. It’s breath-taking furniture. The design attracts attention but still has a refined, elegant quality- despite its bold, confident stance. These contrasts are what produce a really intriguing look. And the quality jumps out at you too. This is Howe leather from the 1970’s, some of the best leather ever made.

The glow of the timber also draws you in, as does the comfort- this ensemble is really nice to settle into- when you put you head back on the top cushion, the comfort is total bliss. This is a no-brainer investment for your home PLUS by investing in this 50+ year old furniture, you’re doing your bit to reduce landfill. I can’t think of any better way to invest in furniture.

Both the chair and footstool present extremely well for furniture that has been used for about 50 years. There are tell-tale signs of use but nothing that warrants a specific mention except with the footstool. The leather sling has torn at one connection point. This is why I've priced the footstool at only $60. There are 5 other connection points so it doesn't effect the function of the footstool though. You could get a timber sheet cut at Bunnings to fit underneath this cushion and this would do the job for the rest of it's life. (And it wouldn't be seen either because it would be under the cushion.) Alternatively if you got this section re-made out of canvas it would elevate the value of this rare designer suite from the 1970's. The thin fabric on the reverse side of the cushions is no longer existent on the footstool and has torn on the underside of the chair. Again, this doesn't effect the function of these pieces at all and can only be noticed when you flip the cushions over. The leather is in beautiful condition for furniture of this age. NO condition issues at all that warrant a mention. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Measurements.
