Provenance and Background Info
A stunning HAND-CRAFTED sideboard with solid marble top and real-brass detailing including brass handles. This is one of the best sideboards I’ve come across for some time. This hand-crafted piece has an art deco style to it but the quality is BETTER than any vintage sideboard I’ve ever stocked (after 21 years in the business). Most art deco sideboards have a timber veneer finish (which can chip off and lift). This sideboard has no veneer at all- it’s SOLID timber! I love the curved front, the ridges in the timber, the marble top and classy brass detailing. All these elements cap off a piece that screams luxury and sophistication. It’s difficult and costly to create curves in timber- this is why you’ll rarely see timber sideboards that are curved.
The other thing that most attracts me to this piece is the QUALITY. I doubt you’ll see a cabinet of this quality for some time. It was HAND-CRAFTED in India from SOLID timber- no shitty Weetbix chipboard here … anywhere in this piece! But that’s not all. The base section is steel- this HEAVY, solid-timber cabinet is sitting on a STEEL substructure for extra strength and longevity. Even behind the doors, there are steel sections supporting the timber to prevent it from warping or buckling. And to top it all off, the piece has a marble top- this not only exudes luxury but adds further durability. When used with sense, marble does not scratch, spills can be wiped off with a damp cloth- this ensures the piece will look great for the long haul.
I rarely stock modern sideboards because most are flat-packed slabs of chipboard with cheap, thin veneers (many are chipboard and plastic or made out of resins). Nearly all vintage sideboards are also made from chipboard with a timber veneer finish. This solid timber piece will most certainly become an antique in the future (which is why I’m proud to be endorsing them to my customers). After most modern sideboards have ended up as landfill, this quality piece will be passed onto future generations- a symbol that when something has been done well it will live on. Because they’re HAND-CRAFTED there is usually a lead-time- at the moment we have one here in stock in Australia and ready to go (it’s just outside Brisbane).
Oh and I almost forgot- this piece is a really great investment too. Most sideboards (inferior to this) will set you back $1990 … $2400 and more. This one has been priced to give you a great investment too!
