Background Information / Provenance

Love this lamp! It’s stylish but quirky, earthy with a cool designer style, plus it’s loaded with character and history- a unique combination! I haven’t had a lamp with this type of appeal for a long time. In a library it’d be so cool but it still creates a warm glow and nice mood too. I currently have it on display at home (and I’m using it every night)- and loving it- it will be missed when it sells!

Made in Holland during the 1950’s, this one also has strong investment appeal. I strongly doubt something like this could be made by HAND for anything close to our price in Holland these days. What you’re paying for here is the cost of materials and the hours of workmanship that has gone into it (paid at MINIMUM wage in either Europe or Australia)- you’re getting vintage investment appeal as a nice bonus. These are rare- this is the first one I’ve ever come across in Australia. When I came across it, I didn’t hesitate.

The extent of the work involved is captivating and the lamp looks amazing when it’s switched on (and creates a nice ambience). Instead of adding to global pollution, consider investing in vintage pieces that have stood the test of time both with regards to quality workmanship and a cool, timeless design! It’s a win for you, a win for our environment plus whenever you buy through iNVISeDGE, you’re supporting various small family-owned LOCAL businesses.

This vintage piece is in excellent condition for its age with no noticeable flaws to report at all. The lamp has some age to it so will show minor signs of age and use but nothing that I noticed. The sails are a thick parchment paper or thin cardboard. They may also have some type of protective coating on them. The sails have a couple of minor splits that don’t affect the piece at all. One shade has some tape on it (on the back) where a corner had worn through at a natural crease in the parchment. As a result (and because it's on the back), this is not noticed at all. As shown in the photos the lamp is in working order but being a vintage lamp (and retains the original vintage electricals) it is your responsibility to have it tested prior to use. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The total height of this lamp is 19.5 cm and it's 19 cm wide. Weight- approx 400 grams. Read my 1200+ feedback comments (ALL for vintage furniture SALES) to be assured that I strive to describe all my items as accurately as I can and I will not stock items unless they are in excellent condition. (Over 100 of my comments are from repeat customers.)
PICK-UP . . . from 30 or 40 minutes North of BRISBANE city is accepted but postage is preferred as my home is hard to find. Because of this I will nominate a friend or family member for you to collect the item from if you need collection. Pick-up in person must be worked out prior to purchase- thank you. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ POSTAGE is offered internationally. All our Decorative Arts pieces are delivered through AUSTRALIA POST. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ POSTAGE ESTIMATES. . . . ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ To BRISBANE- most of our pieces cost $15 - $18 to send. . . To SYDNEY or MELBOURNE- Small Vase- around $20 - $23, Medium Vase- around $20 - $25, Large Vase- around $24 - $30. Let us know if you need an EXACT COST for postage prior to purchase. The above postage estimates include $2.95 for a signature on delivery. . . INSURANCE against being lost or broken in transit up to the value of $200 is included in the estimates above. If your vase is cheaper or more expensive than $200 this will effect your postage fee slightly. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A BOXING FEE of $3.00 is included in the fee above to cover the cost of searching for and storing used packing materials. With the millions of cardboard boxes that end up as landfill every year we don’t believe in supporting the manufacture of boxes for post. Instead of buying new boxes and packing materials and passing this cost onto our customers we spend considerable time sourcing used boxes and then fashioning boxes to fit each item. We do the same for bubble-wrap and foam pieces. This requires a large investment of time, energy, ingenuity, organization and storage space- it is much easier and cheaper to buy new packing materials but I can’t justify taking the easy way out when so much packing material ends up polluting our earth. Our $3.00 charge does little to pay for the time (and storage) needed do this and to pack your item (there is also the time needed to get your package to the post office). This is something we’re happy to do for our customers and the environment. We appreciate your support in this area.
