I have chosen an OFFERS OVER situation for this suite due to the rarity and appeal of what’s on offer. OFFERS OVER $6,500 will be considered for the full suite. The OFFERS OVER price will be open until the end of November, however if a strong offer comes in early, the OFFERS OVER period will close and the suite will be sold.

LOCATION- this suite is being sold under consignment by a private seller in Hurlstone Park, SYDNEY, but can be freighted anywhere in Australia. It would cost about $300 to get the sofa only to Melbourne (to give you an idea of what to expect to pay for freight).

After 23 years of trading, this is probably the best lounge we’ve ever stocked in iNVISeDGE (it’s definitely in my top 2 or 3 anyway). Even though I can’t really afford it at the moment I’m seriously considering upgrading my own lounge suite with this. These days I will only put the best in my own home- this suite ticks every box and resoundingly so. I love the design! It attracts attention but is not completely over the top. I love the mix of chrome with the earthy, natural look of the full-grain aniline leather. No expense was spared renovating this suite and in my eyes the upholstery choice is perfect. This leather is warm and earthy in looks, supremely comfortable and beautiful to touch. It contrasts perfectly with the cool, designer look of the frame.

I’ve done some research to try and identify the designer and background information of this suite- I’ve seen two sellers in Europe identify it conclusively as being Italian and 1970’s. It’s definitely a designer suite from the 1970’s and European- most likely Italian. The chances of finding another in Australia is remote to say the least. After 23 years in this business, this the first suite of it’s type that iNVISeDGE has had to sell.

A few years ago, the current owners invested $7,000 to re-upholster this suite in the best quality Italian leather they could find. It was reupholstered (and re-imagined) by an Italian Master-Upholsterer who operated a small upholstery shop in Five Dock, Sydney. This was one of the last upholstery jobs this gentleman took on before retiring. (He was in his 80’s when he retired.) This was a labour of love (the upholsterer like me, wanted to buy it)- the current owners informed me that he took 18 months to do the reupholstery job … and to re-imagine this suite. I use the word “reimagine” because he has changed the cushioning to improve the suite all round. The cushions are now more comfortable than they were when the suite was first sold in the 1970’s plus they’re more practical as well. Loose cushions sitting on a frame are easier to clean and cheaper to reupholster. (Though you should get a lifetime of use (or more) before re-upholstery needs to be considered again.) The current owners bought this suite from an Italian family in Port Macquarie and spent $7,000 renovating it- they love the suite as much as anyone else who has come into contact with it but they’ve just moved house and it doesn’t suit the new place so they reluctantly need to part with it.

This design is similar to the Eero Aarnio, Silver Collection but in all honesty, I think it’s much better. Apart from the “no-brainer” investment appeal this suite offers, I also love the superior quality of the construction. The frames are heavy and after 50 years of use, as solid as a rock. You won’t find a frame that is more durable and the loose leather cushions sitting on the frame also offer a level of durability and practicality you won’t usually get in a lounge suite.

Finally, the comfort well-and-truly gets a tick. The angles are perfect for seating comfort, the chairs hold you in perfect seating position but there’s also plenty of sumptuous softness as well- lying out on the sofa is pure bliss.

This vintage Italian lounge suite is at least 50 years old and in stunning condition after all these years of use. The upholstery job is only about 3 years old and is expert, meticulously done plus this full-grain leather is stunning. This furniture has been made to last and tell stories for generations to come. After much of the cheap “designer” furniture of today has ended up as landfill, this vintage Italian chrome suite from the 1970’s will be passed onto yet another owner. If you decide to invest in this suite and need a change years down the track approach me; I’d be more than happy to see it again- and years down the track I see no reason why we wouldn’t be stocking it for even more. You can not buy anything new in the shops with this type of quality and appeal for anywhere near this reserve price.
