Being sold under consignment by a private seller in FAIRFIELD, Melbourne but this chair and footstool can be transported Australia-wide for a reasonable additional fee (ABOUT $160 to get the chair and footstool to Sydney). I travelled to Melbourne to personally work with this ensemble and take these photos so I know exactly what I was selling.

Background Info and Provenance

What a showstopper! A quality feature chair and footstool by renown, Australian furniture maker, Jimmy Possum. This chair is about 20 years old and had very little use- it presents virtually as new. I love the style of this chair. The frame is bold, yet minimalist- this ensemble has a really dynamic presence. The upholstery just adds to this vibe. The colour pops and the pattern, whilst simple enough, adds to the appeal and the presence this piece commands. This piece packs a punch but is classy and elegant at the same time.

This thing is HEAVY as well- it’s very solidly built which earned Jimmy Possum’s early reputation. The chair is solid HARDWOOD inside and out- NO chipboard- NO shady workmanship, NO corners cut- all of this was BUILT BY HAND. This is an honest piece of furniture, built to last and it already has- solid as a rock, twenty years after it was made. Jimmy Possum is less known for their design (it was quality workmanship that first got them noticed) but this design is brilliant! This is a feature piece that’s noticed for all the right reasons.

This chair and footstool cost about $3,500 to get custom-made about 20 years ago. There are not many around- I’ve seen none others like this in my extensive travels chasing special furniture. Both the chair and the footstool retain the “Jimmy Possum” stainless-steel makers plaque- this guarantees its value and the quality of the construction. Plus there’s a Jimmy Possum upholstery label under the footstool as well.

To top it off, this chair is comfortable with a high back to support all of your neck, shoulders and (for most people) head as well. It holds you in a brilliant seating position. The chair is very supportive, holding you confidently and comfortably.

After the majority of modern furniture has ended up as landfill, this chair and footstool by leading Australian furniture manufacturer, Jimmy Possum, will be passed onto yet another owner. Good honest workmanship and clever design is timeless. There are very few better ways to invest in your home and reduce landfill.

This chair is in sensational condition with NO condition issues at all. With some corners, the colour has faded slightly. After scrutinizing the chair and footstool very carefully we have ascertained that this is how the fabric is. (It was very likely like this when it left the factory). It is definitely NOT from use. Those areas show NO use AT ALL. This is an inherent part of the fabric- NOT damage. This is a pedantic observation and not something that's noticed unless you really want to nit-pick the piece. Let's look at it's design merit and not nit-pick something that is of no consequence. BOTH the chair and footstool have NO signs of use at all- NO stains, NO wear, NO holes, NO scuffs.
