Background Info and Provenance

A Vicke Lindstrand vase that’s signed to the base V. Lindstrand Kosta 41592. This one also retains the original Kosta label used in the 1950’s to give it further investment appeal. This is one of the most complex 1950’s art-glass pieces I’ve sold- it’s astounding to think it was made completely BY HAND over 60 years ago. This particular design has become hugely collectable. I often see them for around AU$795 each. There’s one currently for sale (larger though) in Europe for 9 500 SEK (AU $1441- see the screenshot provided). One look at the photos is enough to show you why the design is so collectable- it’s a simple yet captivating piece. Lindstrand went through a phase where he experimented with lines and cross-hatching and these designs have become some of his most popular today. What creates a hit is the Sommerso technique he employed. The green was done first as a layer- then the blue crosshatching was done over the top as a layer and finally a THICK layer of clear crystal was applied to complete the design and make the piece pop! Lindstrand experimented with techniques like very few other artists ever have- which explains why all Lindstrand’s work is so sought-after these days.

HAND-MADE art that’s European and over 50 years old is virtually never found in Australia. (It has a long way for it to get here and postage prices for pieces of this weight have always been expensive.) I’ve never seen one in this particular design for sale in Australia ever.

This signed Kosta piece will be passed from one generation to the next. Kosta Boda is probably the most successful glassworks ever and this Kosta piece was made long before Kosta and Boda amalgamated. Design that transcends era and geographic location is timeless. Its popularity never wavers and only becomes more sought-after as the years roll by. Instead of adding to global pollution and landfill consider buying vintage- there are very few better ways to invest in your home and our environment.

Ref- around 1908

This vintage piece is in excellent condition overall considering it’s over 60 years old- however the condition is not perfect. It has minor signs of use to be expected of any piece of this age. It also has one scratch that is a bit deeper than normal but it’s still pretty normal to have something like this on a piece this old. This scratch is fairly short so it's not really noticeable when the piece is on display. (Use the magnifying tool to peer over each photo closely.) There’s also one small flaw down near the bottom. It looks like an air bubble that burst during manufacture however it’s more likely to be a minor knock. (It's a circle- again use the magnifying tool on all photos.) It’s hard to be sure what it is because it’s shallow- you have to run your fingernail over to feel it. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The scratches could be polished out I'd say (it’d be certainly worth doing for a piece of this value) and I feel that the other flaw could possibly be polished out as well. (Personally I like the piece just the way it is- it’s vintage and this is part of its history.) With the netting effect these signs of use are not noticed when the piece is on display- you have to start to scrutinize it to notice them. I have clearly photographed the flaws for this listing and have shown them as well as I could. Inspect the photos closely using the magnifying tool. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Measurements. RARE- particularly with the original vintage Murano label. It's in excellent condition overall for a piece of this age with minor signs of use. There's nothing that warrants a specific mention or that stands out. Height- 26.5cm. Weight- 753 grams. Price- $180. (Or with full group - all 4 pieces - $165.) ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Luminous Carlo Moretti Murano Frosted Pale Blue Vase. Has the original "Created in Italy for Rosenthal Netter" Label on the underside. This label verifies its history and that this is a hand-made piece showing exceptional workmanship. Beautifully delicate and sophisticated shape. Vintage piece- c. 1960's- excellent condition with no signs of use that warrant a mention. Height- 25.5cm. Weight- 156 grams. Price- $89. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Holegaard Cobalt Blue Squat Gulvase. c. 1960's. This is a rarer shape. Original label had come off but was re-fixed to the underside with tape. This is the Odense Factory label. Holmegaard was made in Denmark in 2 different factories. ___ This vase has been used so has cloudiness inside and a little bit of dirt. It's also dusty inside. Could probably do with a thorough wash-out but it's a dark colour so I've never bothered. I don't mind having some of my vintage art glass looking like they're vintage and been used. Height- 18.5cm. Weight- 618 grams. Price- $175. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Read my 1180+ ebay feedback comments spanning 15+ years (ALL for vintage design SALES). PICK-UP . . . from 30 or 40 minutes North of BRISBANE city is accepted but postage is preferred as my home is hard to find. Because of this I will nominate a friend or family member for you to collect the item from if you need collection. Pick-up in person must be worked out prior to purchase- thank you. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ POSTAGE is offered internationally. All our Decorative Arts pieces are delivered through AUSTRALIA POST. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ POSTAGE ESTIMATES. . . . ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ To BRISBANE- most of our pieces cost $15 - $18 to send. . . To SYDNEY or MELBOURNE- Small Vase- around $20 - $23, Medium Vase- around $20 - $25, Large Vase- around $24 - $30. Let us know if you need an EXACT COST for postage prior to purchase. The above postage estimates include $2.95 for a signature on delivery. . . INSURANCE against being lost or broken in transit up to the value of $200 is included in the estimates above. If your vase is cheaper or more expensive than $200 this will effect your postage fee slightly. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A BOXING FEE of $3.00 is included in the fee above to cover the cost of searching for and storing used packing materials. With the millions of cardboard boxes that end up as landfill every year we don’t believe in supporting the manufacture of boxes for post. Instead of buying new boxes and packing materials and passing this cost onto our customers we spend considerable time sourcing used boxes and then fashioning boxes to fit each item. We do the same for bubble-wrap and foam pieces. This requires a large investment of time, energy, ingenuity, organization and storage space- it is much easier and cheaper to buy new packing materials but I can’t justify taking the easy way out when so much packing material ends up polluting our earth. Our $3.00 charge does little to pay for the time (and storage) needed do this and to pack your item (there is also the time needed to get your package to the post office). This is something we’re happy to do for our customers and the environment. We appreciate your support in this area.
