This Vintage Murano piece SOLD thru iNVISeDGE for AU$219 back in 2013. I’d price this at at least this again if I ever found another one- probably a bit more actually. NOTE- our prices are in AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS– the dollar figures given are SIGNIFICANTLY LESS IN AMERICAN DOLLARS.
Background Info and Provenance
A piece of Italian art-glass from the Murano region in the form of the Virgin Mary. This is a sensational piece of art glass and epitomes why the Murano region has lead the world in the production of art glass. The workmanship is awe-inspiring, particularly the detailing around the face. What I love most about this piece is how the designer has used the glass to further express the subject matter. There are areas that seem to glow and give the piece an ethereal essence. This ties in wonderfully and makes the Virgin Mary look ethereal herself. I would say the designer purposely wanted to achieve this which makes this piece all the more extraordinary. This design enjoyed some popularity and spawned the reproductions. All the reproductions do is confirm why Murano is so highly regarded. The copies do not do the piece justice particularly around the face. Even if this particular piece didn’t have the label it’s obvious it’s Murano. The label however adds to its value making it a very strong investment.
I saw another of these online for $395. It was certainly authentic but I don’t think it had the label. This label looks 1950’s to me or even 40s. (I’m estimating here.) Around the deco era Murano labels were more subdued with no or little colouring.
Art glass pieces done by hand with such a high level of skill are very collectable- this standard of design and construction are seldom seen. This piece will most likely outlive us all. The thing is good art never goes out of fashion- it only becomes more prized as time goes on. There are very few better ways to invest in your home and the future of our environment.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition. NO chips, NO cracks, NO repairs. It’s vintage so may have a few feint signs of use but nothing that is noticed. The piece has a height of 26cm and measures about 6.5cm across at its widest- it’s a good-sized piece of glass. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Instead of buying new boxes and packing materials and passing this cost onto our customers we spend considerable time sourcing used boxes and then fashioning boxes to fit each item. We do the same for bubble-wrap and foam pieces. This requires a large investment of time, energy, ingenuity, organization and storage space- it is much easier and cheaper to buy new packing materials but I can’t justify taking the easy way out when so much packing material ends up polluting our earth. Our $3.00 charge does little to pay for the time (and storage) needed do this and to pack your item (there is also the time needed to get your package to the post office).
