A HAND-MADE art-glass vase Australian glass artist, Maureen Williams- this piece is hand-signed to the base. This is probably the largest piece of Maureen Williams art glass I’ve come across for some time. Pieces of this size are not easy to create by hand- it’s obvious it has been crafted by an expert in the field. This piece is the epitome of sophistication- the stylish, elegant shape, the subtle bleeding of colours. Whilst simple in style, this piece screams maturity. Only one who’s been creating a long time is capable to being able to pare it all back and create something that still can captivate. The style of this Maureen Williams piece reminds me of Danish design- there’s a refined, elegance at work here- it’s the magic of simplicity draws you in.

Maureen Williams is highly-respected Australian glass artist with 30 years of experience. Her extensive solo and group exhibitions have captivated gallery audiences the world over. Institutions including the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Artbank and Die NeueSammlung Museum (Munich, Germany) have collected Maureen’s work. Maureen Williams currently lives in St. Kilda- her studio is also located in St. Kilda.

There’s a large band of collectors who only collect prominent Australian art-glass pieces. Hesitate and I’m sure one of these enthusiasts will beat you to this rare example! It’s obvious this is a hand-worked piece that has come from the hands and heart of a person (and not a machine).

Maureen Williams pieces are highly-prized and her major pieces rarely hit the secondary market. This is certainly one to be passed from one generation to the next. There are very few better ways to invest in your home and reduce landfill.

This Maureen Williams piece was created by hand (probably in the early-2000's) and presents extremely well for its age. It has NO chips, NO cracks, NO repairs, NO noticeable scratches. It has been extremely well looked after. It doesn't appear to have ever been used as a vase. There are few tiny air-bubbles that have occurred during the creation of this piece. This is what gives hand-crafted art it's character and charm and shouldn't warrant a mention to those who love and collect hand-crafted glass. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Measurements- Height- 28cm. All our Decorative Arts pieces are delivered through AUSTRALIA POST. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ POSTAGE ESTIMATES. . . . ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ To BRISBANE- most of our pieces cost $15 - $18 to send. . . To SYDNEY or MELBOURNE- Small Vase- around $20 - $23, Medium Vase- around $20 - $25, Large Vase- around $24 - $30. Let us know if you need an EXACT COST for postage prior to purchase. The above postage estimates include $2.95 for a signature on delivery. . . INSURANCE against being lost or broken in transit up to the value of $200 is included in the estimates above. If your vase is cheaper or more expensive than $200 this will effect your postage fee slightly. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A BOXING FEE of $3.00 - $4.00 is included in the fee above to cover the cost of searching for and storing used packing materials. With the millions of cardboard boxes that end up as landfill every year we don’t believe in supporting the manufacture of boxes for post. Instead of buying new boxes and packing materials and passing this cost onto our customers we spend considerable time sourcing used boxes and then fashioning boxes to fit each item. We do the same for bubble-wrap and foam pieces. This requires a large investment of time, energy, ingenuity, organization and storage space- it is much easier and cheaper to buy new packing materials but I can’t justify taking the easy way out when so much packing material ends up polluting our earth. Our small charge does little to pay for the time (and storage) needed do this and to pack your item (there is also the time needed to get your package to the post office). This is something we’re happy to do for our customers and the environment. We appreciate your support in this area.
