A HAND-MADE art-glass vase Australian glass artist, Maureen Williams- this piece is hand-signed to the base. This is probably the largest piece of Maureen Williams art glass I’ve come across for some time. Pieces of this size are not easy to create by hand- it’s obvious it has been crafted by an expert in the field. This piece is the epitome of sophistication- the stylish, elegant shape, the subtle bleeding of colours. Whilst simple in style, this piece screams maturity. Only one who’s been creating a long time is capable to being able to pare it all back and create something that still can captivate. The style of this Maureen Williams piece reminds me of Danish design- there’s a refined, elegance at work here- it’s the magic of simplicity draws you in.

Maureen Williams is highly-respected Australian glass artist with 30 years of experience. Her extensive solo and group exhibitions have captivated gallery audiences the world over. Institutions including the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Artbank and Die NeueSammlung Museum (Munich, Germany) have collected Maureen’s work. Maureen Williams currently lives in St. Kilda- her studio is also located in St. Kilda.

There’s a large band of collectors who only collect prominent Australian art-glass pieces. Hesitate and I’m sure one of these enthusiasts will beat you to this rare example! It’s obvious this is a hand-worked piece that has come from the hands and heart of a person (and not a machine).

Maureen Williams pieces are highly-prized and her major pieces rarely hit the secondary market. This is certainly one to be passed from one generation to the next. There are very few better ways to invest in your home and reduce landfill.
