Background Info and Provenance
A stunning VINTAGE Murano crystal art-glass free-form swan made on the island of Murano in Italy. This piece has the original VINTAGE Rooster Murano label used in the 1950’s by the likes of Seguso and Cenedese. It’s very rare to get one that’s vintage and still has the original label so this is a very strong investment. These are iconic pieces of art- they’ve been much copied and it’s easy to see why. Look at the refined elegance of it. The artist has captured the elegance of a swan floating across a lake perfectly. I’d say this is by Seguso, it’s certainly vintage anyway. That label is shown in a lot of online discussion groups and identified as 1950’s. You can buy similar pieces made in China but they don’t have any flow or soul- some of the Chinese pieces are quite pretty but they have no spirit- no artistic flow as they’re just trying to copy what the Italians did over 60 years ago. Yes, you can get those Chinese things for cheap but what are you really buying? Most of it is not real glass but a chemical compound to mimic glass and most is churned out by machines. When you buy these cheap “Murano-style” pieces you’re supporting an industry where making money is the only consideration- at the expense of everything else … our environment and most certainly the people (slaves) “used” to produce them.
The new Chinese pieces are destined to end up as landfill. Why not save up your money and buy something of value- that can be appreciated and will be loved for generations to come? This piece is already 60 years old and is destined to keep floating into the lives of new generations well after you and I have gone. There’s no better way to support the premise that our art should come from the hands and hearts of people (and NOT machines) AND also care for our environment.
PICK-UP . . . from 30 or 40 minutes North of BRISBANE city is accepted but postage is preferred as my home is hard to find. With the millions of cardboard boxes that end up as landfill every year we don’t believe in supporting the manufacture of boxes for post. Instead of buying new boxes and packing materials and passing this cost onto our customers we spend considerable time sourcing used boxes and then fashioning boxes to fit each item. We do the same for bubble-wrap and foam pieces. This requires a large investment of time, energy, ingenuity, organization and storage space- it is much easier and cheaper to buy new packing materials but I can’t justify taking the easy way out when so much packing material ends up polluting our earth. Our $3.00 charge does little to pay for the time (and storage) needed do this and to pack your item (there is also the time needed to get your package to the post office). This is something we’re happy to do for our customers and the environment. We appreciate your support in this area.
We accept DIRECT BANK DEPOSIT.
