This vintage Noguchi-inspired coffee table sold through my online ebay store in 2007 for $319. These days in 2019 I’d sell the exact same table in invisedge.com.au for ABOUT $365.

If you have a similar item to sell AND YOU’VE SOLD AT LEAST 5 ITEMS THROUGH INVISeDGE (or you have an antique shop or market stall) I’d be very happy to list an item of this callibre online in iNVISeDGE (for around $360). 12.5% COMMISSION FEE (less for shop owners).

Items like this prove that good vintage and antique designs never go out of style and most actually increase in value (at least along with inflation). This type of item is a perfect addition if you own a shop- customers love items like this and the history makes them a great talking point.

Background Info and Provenance

(This description was written in 2007 when this table sold.)

A stylish coffee table with a stunning fluid shape and earthy form. This piece is inspired by the work of Isamu Noguchi, a Japanese designer and sculptor who produced several significant furniture designs in the 1950’s. The table on offer here is a vintage piece (circa early-1960s) so it offers investment appeal over the replica Noguchi tables that are coming out of China at the moment. This piece also has put its own slant on the Noguchi’s design and not just ripped it completely off like Matt Blatt does. This design has a more curvaceous shape to the original and a more flowing style. The timber is Tasmania Oak, a beautiful timber that was often used in Australia in the 1950’s and 1960’s. The Noguchi table is perhaps one of the most popular coffee tables of all time and has constantly been in production since the design was first conceived. In many apartments this vintage table would be the perfect piece to cap off an interesting interior. The sculptured fluid shape would provide creative flair to your living area and the timber construction gives it scope to be matched into any space- hence why it’s such a good investment- the design is not only beautiful but timeless. And this table is also well built- just look at it after 50 years of use!
