A matching PAIR of Baisity designed in the early-1980’s by Antonio Citterio for B & B Italia. This is a very rare design and highly revered. From the “Sity” Collection, one of the designs in this series earned Antonio Citterio the prestigious Compasso D’Oro Award in 1987 plus his ongoing design collaboration with B & B Italia. On a worldwide platform, pieces in this series fetch many thousands, single chairs often sell for AU $3,000 and more. Our price makes this pair a no-brainer investment. This is the only matching PAIR of chairs I could find listed in this series worldwide.
I love the curves, the Damask fabric on the cushions adds a touch of opulence and the Memphis design vibe gives this pair a unique designer style. The curves and circles offer a pleasing look that’s soothing and calming. The construction is also durable- just look at them after about 40 years of use! B & B Italia has long been heralded for quality- the “Sity” designs certainly maintain that legacy. The full-grain Italian leather also looks great after all these years.
Comfort also comes up trumps here. The chairs hold you confidently- the angles are perfect for sitting comfort. These have the perfect mix of support and plushness. The Bayfit cushioning is the very best quality, very dense and aids the comfort.
After flashy “designer” furniture of today has ended up as landfill, this design classic will be passed onto yet another appreciating generation. There’s no better way that I can think of to invest in your home and the future of our environment.

As the photos show, both chairs are in excellent condition. The construction is VERY solid- the frames are heavy and this is quality leather- virtually nothing could happen to this design. The suite is strong and sturdy with NO cracks around any joint, NO movement or wobbles, NO breaks, NO repairs. This pair are about 40 years old so show some signs of use but nothing that draws your eye. I didn't have any leather cleaner in Sydney so they'd likely come up even better with a leather clean. The leather presents well overall. Click on the Magnifying Tool to enlarge each image, then click on the enlarged image to Supersize it. There's nothing unsightly- just what you'd expect after 40 years of use. There is a concentrated area of wear down near the floor at the back of one chair, because it's near the floor and to the side it's not really noticed. This area could be tidied up by a leather technician but I didn't think it was necessary- it took me a while to even notice it. I'd say a leather technician would charge about $140 to get this area looking good again. The outer rim of the wheels has some chipping but this does not affect the function of the wheels at all- the wheels still turn as they should. This also took me some time to notice as the wheels are under the chair. The Damask fabric is in brilliant condition- it looks great. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Photo number 4 and 5 best represent the colour of the chairs in "normal" light- the photos where the colour is half-way between. The photos of them in strong light are good to have there as they show that the colour does vary depending on the lighting. In normal homes, photo 4 and 5 can be used as a benchmark for colour. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
