A VINTAGE PAIR of designer timber armchairs (this listing is for 2 single chairs). This pair has a stunning aerodynamic flow with the sweeping arms. There’s the refined essence of Danish furniture in the design but also a classic, bold flavour giving these a unique slant. I’ve never seen this exact design before. It may have been done by one of the custom-made outfits in Melbourne in the 1960’s but some English makers also come to mind. The exposed springs at the back (this is how the design has been done) is something I’ve seen in the highly-regarded Parker Knoll chairs that came out of England. These could be Parker Knoll but I really don’t know. What’s for sure is that you won’t be seeing them in anyone else’s lounge room.

The quality of these chairs is exceptional. Beautifully-made, great proportions and well finished. They’re all solid and strong after at least 40 years of use. Just one aspect of the design that epitomises the quality is the spring web-configuration under the seats. This is complex and expensive to produce and creates a more comfortable chair. As far as comfort goes, these chairs tick that box too- great angles and generous proportions with the right amount of springiness and support.

This pair is comfortable, durable, a solid investment and look stunning. Perhaps you can’t think of anything more you’d want in furniture. But there’s yet another tick with these. The covers zip-off easily and can be washed in the washing machine- the whole suite is easy to keep looking good. (Just return the covers to the cushions when they’re still damp to prevent shrinkage.) This is a simple a sewing job if its ever needed in the future- just simple slip covers, nothing complicated- re-upholstery at any time is cheap and easy making this a smart life-long investment.

Trends come and go but when an item built in the 1960’s/70’s attracts attention now and still has that wow-factor it has come to supersede trends. The advantage of investing in vintage furniture is simple. When chairs look like this after 45 or more years of use you’re guaranteed of the quality you’d be getting with regards to both durability and design. There’s no better way I can think of to invest in your home and reduce your your carbon footprint.

NOTE- We also have a matching DAY/NIGHT sofa listed SEPARATELY. Go into the lounge / sofas category to find it.
