Background Info & Provenance

This chair sold for $795 back in 2005. Today (in 2018) I’d price the exact same chair at about $895-$950. This piece was completely restored and had new canvas strapping fitted by a professional restorer in Sydney (back in 2005). I believe the chair was designed by Douglas Snelling. I can’t remember whether it had the Functional Products label underneath or not. (I can’t find the description I wrote back then- bloody Microsoft Word and their updates!) I’ve done a little bit more research on this design and I’m pretty certain it is a Douglas Snelling design- one of his rarer ones though. And an original design too- not just a direct knock-off of what was happening overseas years before. I don’t think I’ve come across any in this exact design whilst researching other designs on international websites. A great chair for the mid-century furniture enthusiast.
