A life-affirming, uplifting book; this is one to nourish spirit, get you pondering, wondering … creating – this book will motivate you to see what’s better, not just for yourself but for all. To nourish yourself only is pointless. It is when we look beyond ourselves and really see others, that the helpers we need come our way- a synchronicity of minor miracles adding up to be so much more. “On Being” magazine describes this book as “Inspiring, Hopeful, Engaging and Entertaining’. This I believe … (excuse the pun!) … this book is much more than hopeful … hoping is such a waste of a life!

When we put our attention into the future we squander the present. We do not see our next step forward because our next step is lost in a sea of expectations, desires … goals. This book doesn’t help us hope, it helps us see … our next step forward, our next way to create the world we want for our children and our children’s children…

This is a book I’ve read, I’ll read it again too … well to be honest, I’ve already have read it twice now! I devoured this book when I was 25 and now again 20 years later when I happened to stumble across it again at a Book-Fest. This is a book I wholeheartedly recommend, so it’s an obvious addition to iNVISeDGE.

iNVISeDGE is so much more than just selling “pretty things”. The mission of iNVISeDGE is to help create a new world, where “old-fashioned” values become fashionable again. Pretty things, things that inspire us through clever, thoughtful design, things that consider the future of this world, are a very small part of what iNVISeDGE is. Without wisdom, without knowledge that has real value, there won’t be a new world because there won’t be any world at all!

It is through wisdom … knowledge that encompasses all … that the world becomes different to how it is today. It is when we celebrate what’s good and just, for the mere sake of it, not because we will get back something in return for it; not because it will save us a spot in heaven … when we want what’s best for everyone and not just for ourselves, a new world will be created- our world will change …

In that very instant. Heaven will become a reality for you right there and then.

So much comes and goes in our lives. Change is the only constant we can rely upon. Some of the “pretty things” iNVISeDGE sell may just last “forever” … that is what we want out of EVERY item we sell. But all these “things” are just things… iNVISeDGE items may make us comfortable, happy … content … that’s all meaningless though … the real purpose of every iNVISeDGE item is to inspire us … to help us see that there is a better way and it will soon be realised…

But it won’t be realised without something more. Inspirational “things” are not enough in this world …

Inspiration itself- inspiration that’s gleaned from wisdom- that’s what’s needed in everyone’s life. When we pass on inspiration (the wisdom we’ve gathered from others), a new world will be realised.

This is why iNVISeDGE will now be selling second-hand books alongside our “pretty” things. This was not a conscious decision … it was not something I planned. It just happened. And that is how all of iNVISeDE has come about. It just happened. It was not something I  planned for … ever hoped for. I believe iNVISeDGE happened because it was meant to.

I am trained as a Primary School Teacher. I spent 4 years at university studying to be a teacher to make a difference in this world. I worked as a primary school teacher until I lost hope in myself to make any difference in these kids lives. I saw no reason to keep teaching … in fact I saw no reason to keep on living.

That is where iNVISeDGE came from. A total loss of hope for the world and my ability to do anything to make ANY difference. After various “nervous breakdowns” I found myself living next door to auction house that auctioned off dead people’s things … things people decided they no longer wanted. I found myself soon contemplating a new future through giving new life to old things…

 

That is how iNVISeDGE started. It’s as simple as that.

I never planned to peddle dead people’s stuff. It just happened. And I believe that is how anything of value ever happens.

It certainly does not happen when we sit down and hope for better things. It happens when we stop, sit quietly and see our very-next step forward… It’s as simple as that.

Today when I decided I wanted to re-sell this book, I didn’t hope to write anything of value here. My intention was to simply on-sell a second-hand book. And the piece of writing you’re reading here, just “fell out”. When we are not trying to find what our future is, when we are not hoping for something better … something better just arrives, because it was meant to. If we find ourselves hoping for a better future all we must do is … stop, sit quietly and then our next step forward WILL ALWAYS show itself. Just our next step.

There are no big questions in life, only big answers. And these answers only come when you are not trying to find them…

This book is a great gift idea for someone you always struggle knowing what to get for. It’s also a great impromptu gift- a gift to give “out of the blue or when someone is IN the blue” …

… or for no reason at all.

This particular copy is a FIRST EDITION so on top of being a smart investment because of the wisdom it circulates around us, it’s also an investment because if this book becomes even more popular than it currently is, FIRST EDITIONS can and usually do INCREASE IN VALUE over time. Give it to your teenager as a keepsake. Keep it on your bookshelf at home so you will stumble across it in 20 years time. By then it will have most likely increased in value!!!

Yes, I have a Kindle these days for when I travel (it’s just a lot more practical in that sense) BUT there’s still something very romantic (for want of a better term) about the experience of reading a ‘real’ book. The smell of the pages, turning the next page and holding it in your hands as you curl up in your favourite chair. The purpose of this listing is also to re-ignite a love of reading REAL books again. There’s something very satisfying about knowing that someone before you has already enjoyed the book and after you, someone else will too.
