I sold this table on ebay through iNVISeDGE (when it was actually called CeD iNTeRIORS!) in 2003 to an antique dealer for $195. I’d value the exact same table these days at a lot more – over $500 – I’d have to dig through my research folders to determine the value of something like this but it’s sold and I’ve never seen another one since so there’s no point doing this at the moment. If you have one of these you’d like to sell send me photos and I’ll get the best price I can for it on your behalf.

I’ve kept virtually every photo of every item I’ve ever sold (I’ve sold all my items exclusively online). I remember every item I’ve ever sold- particularly something like this. At the time I had no idea how rare it was. A few years back I’m pretty sure I came across evidence it was an authentic Thonet ANTIQUE design that was done in very small numbers. The table I had was very old and I remember an antique dealer in Melbourne (when I was operating in Sydney) purchased it and had it shipped down to his shop. He ended up buying a lot from me over the next year or so and helped me get my business off the ground. His purchases also gave me confidence that I was picking the right items. All of the items I sold back in 2003-2006 were purchased from an auction centre frequented by many dealers- the fact that a reputable dealer in Melbourne kept buying my stock gave me the confidence to quit my day job and try this full-time.
