Provenance and Background Info
Description was written in 2017. Some information that’s time-sensitive may have changed slightly since then.
These chairs sold for $1800 for all SIX- if I was to get similar again I’d price them at more- this is a VERY RARE style. This set sold under consignment in iNVISeDGE and the seller needed a quick sale hence the low price. A set of SIX (6) Viccarbe dining chairs with a steel and timber sub-structure covered in a high-quality textile upholstery (it looks like wool to me). This design no longer exists on the Viccarbe website. These were purchased through an interior designer some years ago for AU $1200 per chair. ($7200 the set.) I sighted the receipt. If you Google, Viccarbe you’ll immediately get aquainted with the quality of their production and design.
Viccarbe believe that, “sustainability is designing and producing furniture that will stay with us for the longest time possible. Furniture we won’t want to throw out.” Viccarbe’s motto is- “Produce sensibly and consume no more than necessary. Quality ahead of quantity.”
This Spanish company is committed to a production-model based on sustainability and to achieve an end product of the highest quality, manufactured under the principles of honesty and respect for both the environment and human life. Fair play.
These chairs will stand the test of time with regards to both design and workmanship. They easily exceed the quality of our much-celebrated Parker chairs- Parker chairs are not close to being in the same league as these.
They tick every box. Durability for me is the most important tick, followed closely by comfort. These chairs are about as comfortable as you’re going to find in a dining chair- ergonomically designed- good angles and a good back height combined with high-density cushioning. A great investment is important too. These retailed for $1200 PER CHAIR- at $300 a chair in this listing you’re getting a high-end suite at a fraction of retail value. (On top of this these chairs are RARE- this is the only suite like this I’ve ever seen in 17 years of trading.)
And they tick the design box too. They have a sleek refined style with a modern “pop-art” twist. These Viccarbe chairs are at the height of modern sophistication- they’re noticed but don’t scream for attention. The olive and charcoal colour is perfect in my eyes- earthy, modernist AND timeless. The chairs are already about 10 years old proving that quality workmanship and design shine above the pack. There are very few better ways to invest in your home and reduce your carbon footprint.
